Re: Gearbox overhaul
Check the OD of the new bushing and the ID of the housing before you press the new bushing in.
Seems to me I read on here somewhere that some of the new bushings are oversize on the OD and will crack the housing if pressed in w/out checking/adjusting the OD before pressing in.

Are you sure that the readings are PSI? I see 2 scales on that gauge.

Re: Brakes not working
Not likely that air will come out, brake fluid will if there's any leaks.Squirt washing-up liquid or similar round brake unions and look for air bubbles when pedal is pressed.

Re: color hand brake lever
The handle on our '61 is black with a chrome push button on the end. Looks original.
What year are the ones with what looks like a squeeze lever?

Phil is right on.
Page AA.13 of the BMC manual says: "with the split skirt opposite to the thrust side and the gudgeon pin clamp screw to the same side as the split skirt, on the camshaft side of the engine."
This is also illustrated on page AA.10

Re: Oil leakage
If even one ring is slightly long it can cause trouble, that's why I always check all rings for gap. Over the years I've found lots of rings that were too long. I don't use a special tool as Phil posted, just put the ring in a vice and file a wee bit off the end.
YMMV

Suggest that you check all the rings for end gap before installing them.

Roy, why not build your own? http://theepicenter.com/tow02077.html
Re: Generator
How often each winter do you need to run the genny ?? Haven't used it since we moved back to Alberta 14 years ago. When we lived in British Columbia that was a different story, had power failures about every 2 years for a day or 2 each time. Edit, I run the generator every 2 years just to make sure...

Re: Generator
We have a gasoline powered generator and keep gasoline stored for it "just in case", I replace the fuel every 6 months to keep it fresh. Nowadays ifn I was to buy a generator I would buy one that runs on propane, as the propane will keep indefinatly in it's tank I wouldn't have to think ab...

To each their own, but to me a Citroen 2CV is about the ugliest car I've ever seen. The Dodge PT cruiser is a close second.
