Take your time. It's easy but I found it a very slow process that took a few days to get the oil to come out clear.

Re: clutch arm tightness
Thanks guys. It's mated to the engine but out of the car. I'll take the box off and loosen the bolt. Better now than once it's in the car...

clutch arm tightness
I just replaced my release bearing (the engine and box are out of the car) and I noticed that the clutch arm (the little rod that sticks out of the bell housing) is very stiff. Did I over-tighten it? How easy should it be to move it forwards and back? Should it be stiffer after the gearbox is mated ...

Definitely shale gas. I hear you have lots as well; go for it. It has cut our prices to 1/3 what we were paying.

Re: Indicator continuity
After many hours I finally figured it out. The reason everything was so confusing was because the electrical contacts in the indicator mechanism were all gummed up. A little electrical contact cleaner and I'm now, as we say in the States, cooking with gas!

Gabriel,
That's too bad about the caustic soda. Speaking of helpful fathers, my dad crashed our Morris many years ago and the parcel shelf badly injured his knee. Is there any way you can make it collapsible?

Indicator continuity
I'm trying to install a new loom and I'm a bit confused on the theory behind the indicator stalk. I assumed that power comes in on a green wire, goes to the flasher unit, returns to the stalk, and then is sent out either to a right or left indicator lamp. What I don't understand is why when I have t...

Re: Why isn't the fuel pump fused?
Thanks guys. 55/60 watts is legal in most US states. I set up a high beam and a low beam relay. The stock switches in the cabin (dash and floor) see low wattage and they then switch the relays. The relay then uses it's own thicker wire to draw from a new fuse panel, which it then sends to the lights...

Why isn't the fuel pump fused?
I'm replacing the wire loom in my 1967 and I have a question about the wiring. I'm adding headlamp relays (to go up in wattage) and more fuses. Is there a reason that the fuel pump is not on a fused circuit? I can see why the headlamps aren't fused (to avoid cutting out and causing a crash) but why ...

Re: Austin 1970 pickup from Guatemala
Gabriel, I buy mostly from ESM and the shipping adds about 30%. I can't complain about the speed though; I get parts in 3 or 4 days. I haven't found much to buy in America. I use Moss in California for a few parts but these are mostly Mini cross-referenced parts. At least in Guatemala you probably h...

Re: Austin 1970 pickup from Guatemala
My car is apart now, but from this picture it looks like at least one fiber washer was on the outside of my 1967 Saloon (when I enlarge the original image it shows up well).

Wire loom help please
I have a new wireloom and I'm trying to figure out which section goes inside the cabin and which goes in the engine compartment. In the picture I show a wiring section that I have placed in the cabin but I'm starting to think it goes in the engine compartment. If it indeed goes in the engine compart...

I've looked at British Auto Parts. Their web site doesn't list prices and the one time I asked about a price they were out of stock.
