pests

I was telephoned today on my mobile by someone hiding their phone number from view. Wanting to buy my Morris, offering "good money" chap with a Scottish accent. How he got my number, how he knew that number was associated with a Minor, remains a mystery. I think he registered my black mood...

Morris on the radio waves

Another of my hobbies, I only have two, is amateur radio. I am a licensed amateur radio operator, communicating worldwide with others, around 5 million souls at the last count, by microphone and the ancient art of morse code, or cw (carrier wave) as it is known in radio circles. Given that peculiari...

Re: The art of imprecise or approximate engineering

I recall adjusting taper rollers on a spitfire I owned. The joy in replacing them as I recall was no power or pullers required to remove the old bearings. The split pin holding them in could only be fitted in certain positions, inevitably. This meant a small amount of play, but nothing untoward. My ...

Re: three pairs of hands

It is steel, I left a good 1/8 gap between it and the roof to let air pass by, I don't get any vibes from it.
I would also say, I first fitted it as a decorative item, but it has proved invaluable in low sun, I don't need sun shades at all.

Re: ESM interior ‘kit’

For my part I fitted duo tone door cards of the appropriate colour and a new carpet set after fitting duo tone seat covers in vinyl. This was done over months as I gathered the pennies to do it. I cant remember the total costs, but looking at the ESM website just now I think they have gone up quite ...

Re: No more Midget Gems

Well frankly I am most upset by the fact My car is called a Minor.
Which suggests it is somehow smaller or inferior to other cars.
So, what should we call it ?
Perhaps Morris maginificar, or the Morris Master, ideas on a postcard please.

Re: Driving Technique

I always let the clutch up from a standstill in first, but got used to pressing the clutch, slipping in to second without letting the clutch pedal up, then first and clutch pedal up. This always gets over the lack of synchromesh in first gear. That doesn't work on those rare occasions you need to c...

Re: Tiny brakes

I love the feedback through the brake pedal I get from the Minor.
Mine is a quite standard 1965 1098 engine powered, with no mods to the brakes.
As long as I treat her with respect, so far I have managed to stop with ease and with style.

This blatant sales pitch from Duckhams may help.

Re: Would you choose Lucas parts?

You may have omitted replacing one small but very important part, the terminal bush and head. A tiny cable fitted to the points, part number DST107.An intermittent breakdown can occur when this cable breaks and makes again with age and engine vibration.
I learned from bitter experience.
