Re: Rear door lip seal

That's good news thanks, yes that's right the touch class type rubber seal, did you put the glass in first without the frame or with it, I suspect you mean with the frame, great stuff thanks. :P

Rear door lip seal

I've fitted the new type lip seals on the front doors of my Minor, quite easy as the window will go down below the level of the door. However trying to fit the rear door lip seal is the opposite, I have taken the complete frame out and fitted a new felt seal on the inside and a lip seal on the outsi...

Re: Bent fork

Think I've made an assumption when I said it was bent, the 803 and 948 smooth case gearbox had an off centre fork looking at new one's on the B Motif site. It has been use on my car before with the 1098 gearbox by the former owner so I guess it's okay.

Bent fork

Did a search for "bent clutch fork" , someone said they can't bend they would snap, well I've got a bent one it's 3/4 of an inch off centre line from the pivot point :-? . Would it be okay heat it and put it in a vice or play safe and find another, Merry Christmas all.

Valve guides

Started work on a good used standard 12G940 head for my 1098 engine, however the exhaust valves are not 8mm deep they are all around 7.50mm, would it take forever to grind that .50mm off the seats with just paste? also it needs a few new exhust valve guides as well, are they the same as 1098 minor o...

Tight chain

How much play should there be with a new simplex timing chain, just fitted one on good used gears and there is 1/4 play one side between the gears at most.

Anybody know the correct length of a saloon handbrake cable?, early this year I bought a new set for my wreck rebuild but they look too short, thinking I was sent the van type by mistake I ordered some more with other parts. Parcel arrived today but they are the same, outer cable is 30 inches long /...

Copper pipes

Hi all, just looking at Brake master cylinder comments about if it's worth rebuilding them, then seeing copper brake pipes mentioned as possibily dangerous :o . I bought a copper brake pipe kit on line and it looks to be well made with neat flaring at the pipe endings and letters and numbers printed...

Re: 1098 crank end float. etc!!

Clean and flat,........ :o , I wonder if it's a case of a little too much grease behind the washer's?, I'll try to ease them back as far as I can with something softer and squeeze any excess out.

Well I did try and get one of the thinnest feeler's in the set down and no way so I was just guessing at .25, yes new standard set unless BM have sent the wrong one's and i've got the next size up, recept says standard thrust bearings.

I was also a keen carbooter a few years ago both seller and buyer, there is a particular event in Oxford that was known for the local tea leafs to vist more than most, the last time I went...
