Re: Handbrake securing nuts
Should be standard 1/4 unf thread, 7/16 A/F head. Same size nut on the other end of the cable. Most hardware shops only sell metric nuts and bolts

Re: Castellated rear hub/drum nut on a '51/'52 MM
Shaft axle drive 2 off, drum brake 2 off, nut 2 off Changed LHD 126725, RHD 131858, from BSF to UNF My chassis # is 140252 So are we concluding that after the change to UNF, the n/s/r nut changed to being lefthand rather than righthand thread? That'll make finding a replacement even more fun. I can...

Re: Castellated rear hub/drum nut on a '51/'52 MM
The rear hub nut which secures the rear brake drum to the splined half shaft is a clockwise thread on both sides as the half shafts are interchangeable. The nut should be UNF thread but if the half shaft or axle have been changed it could be BSF.
The only anticlockwise thread is on the NSF stub axle.

Re: A low-light on eBay
As the seller has only owned the car for a year then it is quite probable that he is not aware of what is original. The engine is a USHM3 but it has the benefit of an oil filter, absent on the erliest engines and a pity about the tail lights. Can you not retro fit the escutcheon plates?

Midget Engine and Box
I have at last got my Midget engine back from rebuild. It appears to have been slightly modified, ie 1330cc, unleaded, polished ports, MG Metro cam, Omega pistons, balanced etc. I am looking forward to getting it back into my Traveller but I am a bit concerned about whether the 1275 Midget box will ...

Re: What are these?
One is the magneto and the other is the water pump with the rev counter drive. The block is no use in a car as it is a different design. Do you have any more photos of the engine and bits?[frame][/frame]

Re: How is this area usually finished
Rust is rarely not as bad as it looks, it is usually a lot worse than it looks. When you start digging away you usually have a pile of rust on the ground before you get to decent metal
