Re: Thinking of getting a Midget
My wife and I had a frogeye before we graduated to a Lotus 7 and it was great fun, if you took the seat backs off you could sleep in them, but watch your head if you wake up in the night.

Re: Engine tightness
When I was rebuilding large diesel engines we used to assemble all the bearings with a smear of Castrol non creep grease or EP140 on all moving surfaces or you got boundary lubrication taking place and subsequent damage to the lead flashing on the shells.

They are quite easy to repair unless the spring is broken. Usually they only need a clean. I have one in my MM.

Re: Changing the Oil Pressure Switch
I must admit I have a gauge for oil pressure but mini spares and other manufacturers make a 22psi oil switch and that is more useful than the standard switch which seems to operate the warning light at about 10psi and thats not much use if it comes on at anything over 2500 rpm.

Re: Exhaust fitting trouble
I tried to fit one to my daughter's pickup and had to file open all the manifold stud holes and rebend the rear pipe, I have stayed with the minispares RC 40 system ever since, yes I know you have to cut and weld but they last 7 years and dont cost much.

Re: Lazy Semaphore
Try running a temporary new wire to the trafficator as the electrical resistance builds up with old age and you get a voltage drop.Check the earth connections are clean.

Re: marina head on 1098 block
I thought you had to grind a bit out of the liner wall for the inlet valve to clear the side of the cylinder bore?? if you put a 1275 head on a 1098 block.maybe my memory is playing tricks. Regards smithskids

Re: Noise from water pump area?
Got to go out now but if you cant find any thing wrong so far you could drain off and remove radiator and look in timing case.
Sorry cant think of any thing else at the moment, you could try contacting BMC Ecosse. regards smithskids.
