Re: My Morris minor v8
Certainly looks very tidy, guess I should have bid sooner (or more). How come it has an 'M' plate?

All I can say is shop around - I had a 20 year old celica gt-four (4wd, twin turbo, an absolute 150 mph monster) and paid just over £400 inc business use, 6000 miles per year limit.

Re: Bag or bottle??
My 55 had chrome nozzles and a glass bottle - they looked as though they'd always been there so must have been fitted as an extra, or from another model in the Morris range.

Re: So!
There's a more anglo-saxon term for it...Also nearly everything in the speeches of Mr Cameron. Even by politician standards he seems to talk almost entirely in platitudes

Re: Ad blocker ?
First thing I did when Santa brought my new lappie was create a local account, not a microsoft account. I then turned off targeted advertising in every browser. History is disabled, adblocker added. I disabled add-ons and run all browsers in minimum configuration. I block all spam. The result is a v...
Re: So!
As a northerner with some knowledge on the subject , I can assure everyone that northern english is much closer to true original english than the southern version. The southern long vowels originated in the regency period when it was fashionable to adopt foppish french ways of pronunciation. Glass i...

Re: Starting handle how to?
Back in the winter of 81/82 yorkshire had an arctic winter. My old '55 sat outside while my Dad's almost new Escort was undercover. It was often below minus 10C, Most mornings I'd go out to the car, chip the ice off the doors to get them open, turn on the ignition and grab the starting handle. Lock ...

Re: Ages of MMOC messageboard users.
Bought my first Minor at 18. Sold it due to lack of funds and a family in 1985. After thirty years of having 'practical' cars I look forward to welcoming a Minor back into my life in the new year, hopefully.

I was lucky in my youth when I had my original Minor, I got away with just making my thumb a tad more mobile than usual due to a ripped tendon. Only made the mistake once.bmcecosse wrote:Don't wrap your thumb around the handle. That way if it kicks back you won't break a bone.

This car was recently on ebay for £3000 so anyone paying £4600 has paid too much IMHO

I always swore by lubricated sash cord. Did a split screen on my own where a pair of professional screen fitters had failed. Smug eh!

Re: Re-registering a 6 chr number plate?
When I sold my 55 back in 1986 I was gutted when I saw that the buyer had sold the plate. I don't understand the appeal of a personalized plate, unless you are allocated at random for free and it has significance. I knew someone who got their initials by chance! My last car, a Celica GT-Four cost le...

Very enjoyable program. I'm a Clarkson fan, but when it comes to the actual mechanics of things Guy Martin is the new Fred Dibnah.

Modified Splittie
I'm looking for a modified 2 door splittie, must be solid and OTR, but doesn't need to be pristine. Anyone know of anything for sale?
