Re: Brake pipe sets in Kunifer.

Yes they do seem to be now BMC. Although I could not find a supplier when I was looking these last few weeks. Good price too and I know this is important to you as I have some Scottish in me

Re: Brake pipe sets in Kunifer.

Hi Sparticus

You want to push that fact as I had a hell of a job trying to find a supplier for these brake pipes. I should have asked on here I suppose.

Brake pipe sets in Kunifer.

If you have had any thought's about changing your brake pipes now is a good time as along with another poster on here I have found and ordered a brake pipe set made up using Kunifer tubing. It is made to order and you can order up to midday Saturday. After that day they will be made up and posted ou...

Re: Where is the dipstick?

This thread topic is exactly why I bought a Minor. I run a Hyundai Coupe from new and when I get in and drive it it's like putting a glove on. It's quiet, smooth with a very tractable engine goes right down to 20 MPH in top, ideal in town and when on the open road goes like stink. But when I lift th...

Re: Any thoughts on the brake cylinder seal kits of today.

Good advise from both Mike and BMC. I had heard that a drop of fluid or even red rubber grease on the end of the pipe before forming helps the tool to make the form and last longer. A former owner I worked with advised the same regards fitting the master cylinder bolts back to front and packing them...

Re: Any thoughts on the brake cylinder seal kits of today.

Thanks for posting the link Declan. I have decided to have a go at making the pipes up myself using copper/nickel, I can get a 25 foot roll for £15 enough for the whole car. I have found an old post giving the details for making them up ie: length and union sizes and a mate has got a flare tool I ca...

Re: Any thoughts on the brake cylinder seal kits of today.

Thank you for your reply Declan. I did not realise copper pipe was as bad as people think. I have had a look at the usual suppliers and as you say it seems they only stock copper. I have been on to Automec to see if they can make me up a set. I value all input from the members as they have been keep...

Re: Any thoughts on the brake cylinder seal kits of today.

Thank you BMC for your reply. The squashed brake line is the one from the master to the front, some idiot in the past has caught it with a jack or stand. The new pipes will need to be held in the correct place so it does not happen again. Suppliers don't usually specify what the pipes are made of bu...

Any thoughts on the brake cylinder seal kits of today.

Hello all I bought a 1963 4 door last May and the MOT, although it passed, highlighted a squashed brake line, some corrosion to others and one rubber hose near needing replacement. I have decided to rebuild the system but I am a bit worried about the fact some of the parts available now are sub stan...

From the aftermath of accidents I have seen these days it seems they just say sh*t and swerve all over the place taking out as much as they can in the process.

Re: overservoing

I'm glad I have seen this thread, I thought it was me. The works van, a Citrion is just the same. Fine at anything over 10 MPH but if you get caught in traffic it's either crawl or dead stop. The only way to get a slow stop is to press on the pedal just off biting then squeeze the toes, even then it...

Re: Alternator Kit

Hi Pascal. No dont cut it, it is a tight fit in the hole but meant to move so as to take up any slack. Just fit the alternator to the new bracket first with a loosly fitted bolt and then fit a bolt into the front one and pull the alternator mounting hole up to the bracket hole. As you do this the tu...

Re: Alternator Kit

I mounted my coil on the inner wing too, under the damper. But i found that there was so much underseal on the outside the coil was not getting an earth so not being sure if it should have one  I ran an extra wire from the engine block to the coil fixing bracket. Sorted.

Re: Alternator Kit

Just did that myself last Tuesday and all went well. Took me a bit longer as I could not make my mind up as to where to mount the coil and had to pack three washers under the front top alternator bolt to line up the belt. By the way it looks like from your picture you could do with an extra washer u...

Re: Catching fire.

Mine's a 1963 but if it was a pre 1960 I would still have it MOTed just for the peace of mind, cheap even at £50 for that reason. Not seen anything on the board about fires from old wiring only wiring wrongly carried out. Get breakdown cover and enjoy the runs out. Give it a good service beforehand ...
