Re: My First Morris

Hi all. I'm 6' 4" and never had much of a problem. Not too much room behind the drver's seat, but I'm fine. I do need to be careful with shoes. Big feet! I did think of fitting a smaller steering wheel, but I've got used to it now and probably won't bother. Drove back from Bristol to Norwich in...

Re: Members password

The new website has given members nothing extra and we were asked what we wanted !.Why did the MMOC not get a decent website provider and one that knows what they are doing as you only have to look at another Morris website and its far superior and FREE. Unfortunately true. It scales horribly on an...

Re: Rear brakes - poor performance.

The 1250kg refers to the max. allowable weight fully loaded. The 806kg (~3/4 ton) is the kerbside weight. Both are mentioned on the German papers but as Nikol mentioned it is the total weight which determines the required brake rating. Regards Declan Thank God for that. Mine's under 800kg dry. I di...

Re: URGENT! Website upgrade this Tues/Wed

Ever planned to do an engine swap over the weekend and you can't get a bolt undone or a tool goes missing?

Better done properly than fast. It's been fine as it is for a long time. A delay won't hurt.

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query

For information:- The 12G295 head has a combustion chamber of 28.3cc whilst the 948cc Minor has a combustion chamber of 24.5cc. The 1098cc Minor fitted with the 12G202 head has a combustion chamber of 26.1cc. It is usual to skim the 12G295 head by 0.060" when fitting to a 948cc or 1098cc Minor...

Re: 2door complete roof replacement ( Has anyone done this)

Done it on a Ford Pop. Although technically it was a roof chop. The main issue is brace the shell thoroughly by welding in temporary cross braces. Triangles are good for maintaining shape. Then add more braces! I thought the Pop was very well braced, but got a bit of twist and it was murder to corre...

Re: MG Metro cam and 12G295 head related query

Is this a stock 12G295? If I recall rightly, they are fairly high volume. Have you checked your compression? We used to skim them quite a bit for the non-1275 mini engines. Or fit a blower :) If you do need to skim, it was possible to break into an oil way on about one in four of them. But it's fixa...

Re: No power to ignition intermittently

Doesn't sound particularly serious.

Whatever causes the power to come and go when you wiggle it is likely loose, corroded or broken.

Figure out what it is, then tighten or repair it (with the battery disconnected) and you should be good to go.

Good luck!

Re: Smart Phones at the wheel still today!!!

Anybody else remember the sudden shock of a toughened windscreen suddenly going completely opaque when hit by a stone? There's a lot to be said for laminated glass. I've still got a scar on my hand from punching out a hole in a windscreen when I was a kid. That was the advice at the time. Should ha...

Re: Seam Sealer ?

That hasn't been my experience. I've painted over Tiger seal without any problems at all. It needs to be fully cured first and then can be lightly rubbed with a scotchbrite pad and then spirit wipe prior to painting with normal car repair products - a primer then colour coats. Just a thought, what ...

On a similar subject, here's a way to change your forum name for new posts - but only works with Gmail addresses as far as I know. I rather unwisely registered here as Brian from Saudi. It then occurred to me that I'm not going to be posted in Saudi forever, so it was a daft choice. Try to register ...

Never knew the Marina van 1275 was different.

I wonder what I have. I'll have to check the engine number with one of the gurus.
