My cars 1966 & the rockers are kind of pressed steel so I guess they're the 1/4 unf, if the originals were high tensile then I suppose it's not ok to replace with a standard 1/4 unf nut.

Hi all.
Adjusting my valve clearances yesterday & one of the locknuts on a rocker has a stripped thread. Are they 1/4" unf? And are they a special nut or will one that fits do the job?

For safety's sake I'll wait until I've used half a tank before I remove the sender.
Do you know what the gasket is made of? Is it something I need to buy before taking it off in case it tears or is it something I can make out of cork or thick gasket paper?

I had one of those inline filters on my last Morris when I got it & it led to fuel vaporising when it was hot, definitely best removed.

They don't want sealing. A slight gap allows air to circulate to keep the sills dry inside. It'd be worth taking them off though to examine the sills underneath & apply some anti-rusting treatment.

It wouldn't be difficult to be thinner than me . Also the originals I imagine would have been fixed belts rather than inertia reels so may have had more adjustment?

The bits that you can see there are just bolt on covers over the sills.
