In order for a repair to be acceptable for an MOT test it has to be attached as per the manufacture. That means that a repair must be seam welded all the way around. The only exeption would be if you are reattaching to an origional spot welded seam in which case that section only can be plug/spot we...

While you are out shopping grab a couple tins of black in an aerosol. Use this to dust the last coat of high build and give a guide when flatting for the top coats.

All them fizzing balls of weld tend to be caused by trying to weld to iron oxide. This is the nasty brown crusty stuff that builds up between to seams. As has been said the mig like lovelly clean metal so all that crusty stuff gotta go. Before you start cleaning up with a grinder give all the seams ...

Celly from Express pains in Portsmouth £15 a litre. If you start from bare metal at least you know what you have got. Try Lechler green 2K high build primer. It also acts as an etch and doesnt sink like celly primers. Its filling powers are incredible,i rough all filler work out in 40 grit add to co...

Seems there are a few people that like syth paint. From my own experience its awfull stuff and a complete waist of time when good celly is available at £15 a litre.
Im gonna duck my head down now.

Well its my old one if thats what you mean Ray :D Still makes me grin when people say its lovelly though!
Hopefully it will all get sorted with minimum of fuss. I would have offered to do it myself (in exchange for a little blast over the hill) had it not been for my current location!

Most of that front end is custom mate. If you are going to go through insurance i will try to find the number for a bodyshop in Hillsea. My mate works there and he carved out the shape of the car origionally.

Its not offten you find them rotten that far up so you could probably salvage a repairable B post from a scrap car. Cut it out with as much of the surounding metal as you can, this means you can take it home and carefully un stitch the bit you want.

Forgot about that!! Eastona,Put two coats mixed 50/50 first should be a dust coat second should be a full coat. After that start to wet the coats with more thinners till you get a nice smooth shine. 3-4 more coats should do it adding thinners each time. The first two dry coats allow the wet coats to...

50/50 for celly paint? Way to thick for anything more than a first coat. After that try using a 2k thinner i usually reduce the last wet coats to about 80/20 (thinner/paint) leaving about 10-15 mins between coats. The 2k thinner flashes off slower so you dont get dry spots and gives a far better shi...
