Re: Running rich?
So, I thought I had sorted this :( but just tried to go out in the car after being on holiday for a couple of weeks and its really struggling to start, tried using the choke which made it a LOT worse and after getting her started she cuts out after about a minute every time. When she is running it n...

Re: Running rich?
Thanks! By upwards do you mean anti-clockwise? Just done that, turning it clockwise makes the engine sound awful so guessing its not that way! Turned it a couple of turns anticlockwise and the engine sounds far better and the ignition light has also gone off. I'll clean the plugs at some point to ma...

Running rich?
Hi, Ive noticed for a while that Lucy sounds pretty rough and is very sluggish when first started up, and when driving and stopped at traffic lights the red ignition lights comes on and she sounds like she's going to cut out (need to rev a bit to keep her going!). She starts fine however, always fir...

Always check the simple things first....
When the car won't start and nothing will work (and you know the battery isn't flat because its new), it may be that the battery lead has just come loose and you dont need to sit around for 2 hours waiting for the RAC at 1am in the morning!

Re: Clutch problems!
Well done BMC you were spot on , Another spring just arrived and I had been sent the wrong spring! Although it doesn't look much like my throttle return spring either so who knows... Anyway, swapped them over and the clutch is fixed within 5 minutes! Thanks!

Re: Clutch problems!
Its definitely not loose, but isnt constantly stretched.. Its pretty strong as well, but I havent seen a throttle return spring so not a lot to compare it to! Ill order another one from a different shop as their only a couple of pound and see how that one is!

Haha thats what I was expecting,! but the gap between the hole in the operating rod and the hole in the engine backplate was just about perfectly the length of the spring . Hmmm.. now Im puzzled

Re: Clutch problems!
Thanks, Ill take a look at that as well! I think the spring is fitted correctly :-? It went on dead easily from the engine backplate to the operating fork, far easier than I was expecting actually, and didnt have to stretch it at all. Does that sound about right? Perhaps Ive got it completely wrong ...

Re: Clutch problems!
Which bit is the pedal pivot and how/with what do I lubricate it!? :D Nothing moves with regards to the spring etc when the pedal is being moved in the part where it won't return on its own, so seems like that bit of travel doesnt affect anything (does that make sense? sorry, quite hard to explain w...

Re: Clutch problems!
Hi again! The spring has arrived and Ive fitted it but theres still maybe the top inch or so of travel in the pedal that does not go back up on its own.. Iv tried adjusting the clutch pedal but this is the best ive managed to get it.. Not sure if it was always like that and I never noticed until now...

Re: Clutch problems!
Ok thanks, I've already ordered one so hopefully it will be here in a few days! Is it ok to drive in the mean time or will it wreck my clutch? I only need to go a short distance (maybe 6 miles) tonight but Id rather avoid it if it will ruin my clutch!

Re: Clutch problems!
Just been having a look to see if I can see anything obviously wrong and I dont appear to have a return spring (or at least its not where I thought it should be!), could this have decided to jump ship while I was driving and is now causing the problem?

Clutch problems!
Hi, Just got home from a drive and half way home when I put the clutch in to change gear there was a small 'ping' noise and now the clutch pedal wont come the whole way back out, it gets to about half way and stops :( . Its not stuck there, its quite easy to pull it back up again (and once its back ...
