Reece Fish Carburettor Tuning

I have several photocopies of manuals and advertisements, and a CAD drawing for an adapter plate. 8)

The question is - does anyone know of a rolling road, preferably Glos/Wilts/Worcs/Warks/Soms/Oxs, that would know what they're doing with it?

Re: Adding ethanol to petrol.

Just in case anyone wants to read some information that isn't sponsored by government or any climate alarmist nutters, this is an interesting take. Make up your own mind but keep it open to change too. https://edberry.com/blog/climate/climate-co2-temp/dont-buy-climate-alarmism/ -- "As CO2 has ...

Everyone knows the royals are actually alien lizard people!

Re: Adding ethanol to petrol.

"phony green agenda"? "climate zealots"? "vilification"? Ethanol fuel is likely not the answer, but you lot sound like nut jobs. All the usual regurgitated catchphrases pushed through the press (have some imagination and come up with your own at least), but no serious a...

Re: Where have all the classics gone!

I would say young people are far less likely to have the money, space or time to buy, keep and maintain a classic. Car prices, rents, house prices, insurance and fuel have all gone up relative to incomes. It has increasingly become a hobby of those who bought their houses years ago and the well-off....

Re: Forum Activity

Facebook has sucked in a lot of what would have been forum traffic, and spins it through cynical algorithms that radicalise people because that is what gains the most engagement, personal data, and thus ad views.

Good news recently that its user base started shrinking, forums are far more civilised!

Re: Bargain tyres?

Looks like they're normally £100-£120 each, so that's £500-600 worth of tyre you've got there.

The tread pattern looks nice and I've not seen them available before, perhaps a new one?

Re: Local mechanic

I'd recommend Stephen Baimbridge of Mostly Minors who operates out of Twyning (GL20), or at least he did when he did some work on my Minor in '18-'19.

I have a contact number and email address on an invoice if you'd like.

Re: Newbie looking for Minor 1000 saloon

Yes the seats may be able to go forwards another inch or two using the standard plate that the seats bolt into, various suppliers also sell blocks to raise the rear of the seat a little. There is also nothing stopping you drilling more holes in the plate/floor and bolting them on further forwards st...

Re: UK Badges/Stickers

I was thinking about this type, but UK and not domed gel. Doesn't seem like anyone is making or selling it yet, unless you're willing to take out a mortgage for it?

UK Badges/Stickers

When we needed 'GB' badges I sourced nice, I think aluminium, stick-on ones that came in silver-on-black or black-on-white.

Looking around I can find vinyl and gel 'UK' badges and stickers but nothing as nice, anyone as fussy as me found anything?

Re: Brakes!

I had to do this on another classic revently. First I tried leverage - refit the wheel and see if it turns with the wrench on a nut once the car is off the ground. Alternatively put something long against the front of the drum and use it to turn the drum by pressing against the studs, try to use som...

Not regular enough to be linked directly to rotating components slough a loose pulley or fan could well be the case. Trouble is it’s got me thinking (always a bad thing). Noisy engine, take it apart and find out why. May as well do a bit of work while it’s apart, skim head, rings and shells , why n...

Moss are one of the largest suppliers out there I think, even supplying British car parts in the USA. On the more expensive side but high quality broadly... ... that said I didn't have a good experience with a reconditioned differential from them - it was and is quite noisy. I would recommend callin...

Re: Strange Brake Layout

Recently bought a landcrab that I took to the rally last weekend - was amazed to find the fuel pump is mounted underneath between the fuel tank and rear bumper. Couldn't get dialectric grease onto those contacts fast enough... might even remount it in the bonnet as a pull/suck pump! The MGB brackets...

30 weight is good in my view but I don't like particularly stuff suspension, especially up front.

I used a specific shock oil last time - Millers Shock Oil 32.

Re: Sudden splutter over 50mph

It could be - I had a similar issue with a HiF38 with the cruise leaning device that would cause misfires. I think we kind of assumed you had checked the float bowl for crud, the float for leaks, the condition of the jet, the piston movement and piston damper oil? Otherwise I would check if any ther...
