What a difference a Diff makes

For any who may be interested…. See other threads about this for the background but I got hold of a 3.9 diff (thanks, you know who you are!) for my 1098 Traveller daily driver, because I do a lot of motorway/dual carriageways. Had it fitted this week(thanks YOU know who you are!), and WHAT a differe...

MediaCity Minors

Just wondered who else drives a Morris Minor to MediaCity area of Salford? I saw a Maroon Traveller going into the car park this morning. If it's someone regular, would be nice to say hello with mine!

Re: Morris as a daily driver.

I generally agree with other posts here. I use my 1098cc 4-speed for 40 mile round trip 5 days a week mainly motorways / dual carriageways. Service regularly, keep the oil levels up. Mine's got disc brakes & a servo which helps. I keep distance on motorways, allow the trucks past when safe to do...

Re: Another nicked Minor

I agree that no one wants their P&J to be their ex-P&J. I've found the best process is to think 'if I'd lost my keys and absolutely definitely needed to get this car home, even if it means breaking something, what would I do?' Then put measures in place to prevent that, as far as practically...

Re: The Distinctive Sound of a Morris Minor

Well, since I posted with my questions the general route has been towards the exhaust, but thanks Chipper for your comment about the 1275 engine still sounding the same. For me, I love the whiney sound which - to those audio experts out there - gets up to about 1khz when I'm at the top of 3rd gear j...

Re: Wood filler

Thanks - I guessed the answer would be No but wanted to check! I've had a look at forum threads which mention Gorilla glue and they were v helpful. I know the inevitable will be a new post or even whole side but with only that top corner currently showing a problem I want to see if the erosion can a...

The Distinctive Sound of a Morris Minor

What is it that makes Minors sound like they do? Would an engine change e.g. to 1300cc, still sound the same? What about the Suzuki engine that was reported in a recent edition of the magazine? Or is the sound mainly the because of the exhaust, the body shape, or something else? I know the general a...

Re: Wood filler

What do you reckon to this bit of offside rear post? Have tried to use a high res pic to show the issue. For context all I'd say is, this is a close up so when looking at the whole car you generally wouldn't spot the problem. Do I apply 'wood filler' from a large DIY store (comprising two letters jo...

Re: Daily use classics, very rare now.

I bought my Traveller in January specifically because I needed a commuting car for average 4 days a week. I do a 40 mile round trip, much of it on motorways. LOVE IT !

Re: Is the speedo original?

Thanks all for replies. I will trust I've got an original speedo. I've got records for my car going back to early 1990s but its first owner (1967-92) didn't appear to keep anything.

I'm sure I saw you in that yesterday! Were you on a road called Greave around lunchtime?
And is Mitsiland the same place I nearly took my Toyota recently?
Really nice work. Impressed.

Is the speedo original?

How would I work out if the speedo is original on my Traveller? I know there are various little numbers on it - do any of them indicate when it would have been manufactured? The only distinctive thing about mine is the central area has thin white concentric circles. it's a 1967 F Reg. My parents had...

Re: Want to be a TV Star this Friday

In defence of an industry in which I have plenty of friends, the BBC's budget is huge but it's a huge organisation and has, as part of its charter, to share it around a huge amount of things, just as we all have to decide how we spend our income. No one area gets that much share of the cash. Every p...
