Did you connect them in the right direction? The rotor arm turns anti-clockwise as you look at it. If you connect them going clockwise, you end up with a firing order of 1-2-4-3

0.012" for both inlet and exhaust according to my book, although some recommend 0.015" for the exhaust valves. Either would be fine as a starting point, the 3 thou' difference won't stop her running.

That's a Mitsuoka Viewt. They've done lots of similar conversions, restyled to look like Jags, Vanden Plas, Rollers & Lancias.

This is the one based on the current Micra:-

Well, if you don't......... I'll give you £20 apiece for 'em! :)

Well done on your test!

If a replacement was fitted and didn't solve the problem, it's quite possible that both pumps are actually OK. If you haven't already done so, I'd test them both before buying a new one.

You could use White for Whitworth, Blue for BSF, Maroon for Metric and..... errr........ something else for AF!

But I'll bet you still won't find the size you're looking for!

Correct but the ones on ebay are obviously not 80's cause they look too small in the arches - Hence my guess at the more common 70 profile which is an inch smaller.....
Well they certainly look smaller than yours, but yours look wider too!

What size tyres & rims are you running?

The overall diameter of 165x13 tyres will be around 6mm larger than 145x14s, assuming both are standard profile, ie 80%. That shouldn't be a problem.

It should only fit one way, with the crown wheel on the left side.

Re: Help identifing engine

Engine number seems to be L2V/586F/H2957 Could the engine number actually be 12V/586F/H2957? If so, it would confirm that the engine is 1275, originally fitted to a Midget MkIII for the home market. According to this: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgccz/technic/codeseng.pdf half way down page 5, 12= 127...

Not just the mounts......it was a totally different engine. The 1500 Midget used the Triumph Spitfire engine.

The Austin/Morris FG series used indicators similar to the ones described.

There a link in MarkyB's reply in the Charles Ware Sri Lanka thread. The first photo shows an FG.

I'd have thought the exhaust would be on the same side for both RHD and LHD models. I can see no reason why they'd swap it over. Perhaps it was designed to accommodate twin exhausts for the flat 4 engine?
