Donegal GAA painted Moggie
Saw this moggie painted in the Donegal GAA colours in the Irish TImes on Monday 17th. Bit of drastic thing to do to a good moggie but then it is a Donegal GAA final.

The Scapegoat ITV
Did anyone see the above period drama on UTV/ITV Sunday 9th September ?? Both a Morris Traveller and a two door split screen saloon appeared. Not knowing my Morris history as I should  I wondered if either or both cars were correct for the period - sometime between February and June 1952 ??? T...

4 door window runners
Just wondered if anyone knew which parts I needed to replace the left, right and top (??) window runners/channel and the weather strip in all four doors on my saloon ? The windows are very hard to open on most of the doors which is a combination of lubrication and decayed/no window runners, so they ...

Re: Fitting rear seat belt
Bit the bullet and bought the front and rear seat belt kit for the four door, plus loads of mounting plates. However I am a bit daunted and confused by the various bits (bolts, washers etc) that come in the box as I have no idea of what bolt goes where or with what fitting. Needless to say the so ca...

Dented door.
I changed the wing on my 58 four door the other day (from a 69 Traveller). Before I changed it all looked fine, but after I fitted the replacement wing I noticed that it didn't appear to fit correctly, but on closer examination (and double checking with a metal ruler) it appears that the bottom of t...

Finishing off small spray painting job
I have just done a small bit of spraying to part of a car and I was wondering how do you finish it off. Needless to say the fresh bit of painting is glossy and shiny while the original paint is rather matt. Is there a way to blend them into each other so that it's not that obvious ?? T-cut and polis...

Bonnet coated in old primer
Question - I stripped a bonnet about two years ago and painted it in a number of coats of primer but never got round to finishing it. It has since been stored in a dry but occasionally moist shed since then. I am now getting round to finishing things , but do I need to strip all this primer off to s...

Re: Little grinding in 1st gear
Yeah I thought that too about quick fear change so I tried to slowly pausing in between. What I noticed was that with the pedal depressed/neutral there was still a whirring sound from the gearbox suggesting the gear was still engaged ?? It could be poor use all right (hopefully) as it has not been d...

Little grinding in 1st gear
Drove my car for the first time in a while to test the brakes etc and noticed that when I clutch to change from first to second it's a little hard to change gear and there is a little crunching where the gear is obviously still partially engaged. All other fears are fine and the car drives fine in a...

Re: Fitting rear seat belt
Never thought of that.... Few more questions - how or what tools did you use to cut the slot and do you have any more pictures (or does anyone) showing the belt reel bolted to the back of the seat ? I just want to see what way it is orienated as I had a go with a belt reel in my shed earlier today i...

Fitting rear seat belt
I have no doubt this has been asked before, so can anyone point me to the relevant thread or tell me how to fit rear seat belts in the back of my four door ? In particular how to fit the belt reel to the rear parcel shelf safely as it's rather thin metal and I'm not sure if it's strong enough ? I wa...

Black water in exhaust
I suspect that this is perfectly normal but just for peace of mind - I started my car again today in the shed and noticed that the exhaust was dropping black coloured water on the ground. I know that the exhaust can collect condensation from combustion so I presume that this is normal ?????

Bleeding radiator
Can anyone tell me, or point me a thread, how to bleed and re-fill the radiator with the correct ratio of water and anti-freeze ? Need to change the water in mine as it's not in proportion.

Re: Car write off (ford focus)
I have all the bits - front and rear belts and a late minor heater. Just need the time to fit them, do a little minor (no pun) welding and respray some panels. I even have some disc brakes I can takeoff another car (resto) at a later date. I might try it, if I get the time to fit the bits. It's just...

Car write off (ford focus)
I has a bit, well a big, bang in my everyday car this morning and if it's not a write off I'd say the insurance will just pay me for it as it's 2002 and not worth spending repair money on. Question - should I try and buy another modern car or spend money on my green four door, get seat belts, heater...
