Hi, Thanks a million for clarifying that, I'll have a look at a few photos and drawings to help me along. I just have to find that U bolt under the door to get in under there now. Its a Saloon (I have a traveller too in need of restoration) I have mainly that I will be working on soon, so I presume ...

Don;t forget to spray wax based inhibitor in all box sections as well!
This is going to sound like a really stupid naive question, but where exactly are the box sections and how do I get access to them, or any other hard to get at space to rust proof it ?????

Rust proofing the underside

Hi. I need to rust proof the underside of my saloon this autumn but how do I go about it. Its my first time at this. I know I have to jack it up and rest the car on axle stands, presumable four stands at front and back, and spend time and effort with a wire brush getting rid of dirt and rust etc. Bu...

I had the same problem with a new reconditoned engine (948cc). Oil light came on and in my ignorance I kept driving home. End result is a now dead useless engine. Bearing or shaft worn so have no choice now but to find another engine. Hard lesson to learn. She too was not leaking or buring the oil. ...

Understood. Your drawing was clear. I'am sure I'll be in contact again when I do the job and no doubt I will have a few questions or queries. Thanks a million. Talk to you again about this.

I need to replace the interior door panel on my saloon. Judging by the posts above, if I cut a piece of thin hard board to shape and re use the red interior trim with approiate holes for the fasteners, that should work - should'nt it ????? :-? :-?

Yeah, I did paint the wheels on my saloon a year ago all right and I ended up taking them off the car and masking them up, which took ages, but looked good in the end (needs doing again though). I must remember that trick, sounds good. Although I love originality, I also love the Old English White c...

Ok. Cheers, I'll give it a go and see how I get on. I presume I need to seal the upper and lower grove in the wood on the inner sides (facing the interior of the car). The water that accumulates on the outside of the windows drains off through the drain holes and not into the car. Is that what you m...

Re: Traveller side window replacement. Just on that train of thought, I need to replace the side windows in my traveller, or at least the window channels and rubber strips. I was told that I had to remove the inner capping rail, unscrew a few things and somehow slide the whole window assembly out. T...

Hi. What are peoples thoughts on original v's practical safe indicators ? I ask in the context that I want my 1962 saloon rear and front indicators brought back to the original flashing red indicators (rear) to replace the later (non original, but safer) flasher unit. Obviously the later ones are mu...

Correct Front Grill Colour

Hi, Just wondered if anyone knew what the correct colour was for the front grill and wheel rim of a 1969 Traveller ?? I have a 1962 saloon and the colour there is Old English White. Is this the standard colour for Minors or did they vary ? I see some cars with Silver grills. Is this the colour I sho...

Hi. I've got an ex UK traveller in need of restoration. I bought the car as it really only needed underneath welding done, and because the wood was generally ok and didn't need much doing to it. It was treated and varnished in Bath I think but it now needs redoing as its cracked etc - the usual. But...
