I believe you should attach your plus wire to the right hand side of the right hand fuse box alongside the green wires.

My Trav with similar symptom was the king lead into the coil had worked its way out and just good enough contact for idle. Easy first check!

I also have an alternator and electronic dizzy and negative ground. My wires are thus: white wire from loom to positive side of coil (this is powered only when key is on). Red wire from dizzy to positive coil, black wire from dizzy to negative side of coil. My alternator has a large brown wire to so...

Take the line off the fuel pump that leads to the carb. Put a rag to cover the opening. Turn on ignition for two seconds then off, and the rag should be soaked in fuel if the pump is good.

One more thing, the orange light on the left is not operational on a black speedo for 1968, only the right orange for oil pressure and the red below it for ignition and the little switch should not turn these off.

the starter turning the engine causes the distributor rotor to turn which causes the points, or electronic module, to open and close the electrical circuit which causes the coil to create the high voltage needed to fire the sparkplugs. Hello, my LED gauges started flickering after I changed spark wires. I put a ferrite noise suppressor on the power line to the gauges and that fixed it. Might work for you and very inexpensive and easy to do.

I refinished my wood myself 4 years ago with Sikkens Cetol Marine Lite and have not had to do anything since. I do wipe the wood down now and then to keep it clean and shiny.
