Re: Windscreen rubber

I had similar problems with my windscreen, in the end I softened it in hot water for a few minutes then got management to assist by holding one part in place while I wrestled with another part. If it's any consolation, fitting the rear screen is even worse :o

Success! Managed to get a new inline valve from Halfords and it all now works perfectly. Time for MOT :)

Re: Windscreen washer

I've found some answers - without blowing or sucking. Putting electrical connections the other way made no difference but changing the pipes round did - the bottle is now connected to the pump's 'out' inlet and the windscreen pipe to the pump's 'in' outlet :-? It only works if power feed from the fu...

Windscreen washer

So this is irritating. After having had only very limited success with the manual pump, today I fitted an electric kit from one of the main suppliers. Electrically, it works beautifully: when I press the button the pump whirrs away eagerly. Just no water being picked up from the water bottle though....

Amazing what you can earn for "reading out loud" off the autocue, That's "talent" apparently.

Re: B post cracking

A possibility I guess. I think I'll want to find a way to reinforce this area - has anyone done that?

Re: No heat!

Thanks guys most likely to be a blocked matrix I think. Thermostat and heater valve are new and working, heater fan works too, Once I've completed some house diy  I'll see if the heater matrix is blocked. The car sat for 20 years before I rebuilt it which is why I wondered about a non-function...

No heat!

Just trying to resolve a few niggles. My heater isn't producing any heat. So far I've replaced engine thermostat and heater valve etc., What else should I try? I wondered if water may not be circulating through the engine properly - water in radiator appears to be still when engine running. how can ...

Re: B post cracking

Thanks Phil that's very helpful. I did indeed brace everything before cutting and welding - the car was very rotten indeed and I was actually slightly (ok very) paranoid about the door aperture changing as I made repairs. I'll do some careful measurements etc against the workshop manual bodywork dia...

Re: B post cracking

Hi Phil I probably should have said - I recently completed a full restoration on the car so all the metalwork is completely solid and corrosion-free in the sill/floor areas. On looking at the car again I wonder if it's the door out of adjustment - I can see some evidence of paint rubbing on top of t...

B post cracking

Hi I have a recurring issue with the b post cracking on the outside at the midway point on my 2 door saloon, i.e. where side window frame starts. I know some people have had this problem before so I'd ge grateful for views in best way to ensure a permanent repair. I've welded it up a couple if times...

Re: 57 Saloon, rotten!

You're making a fabulous job of the car, brilliant. Brings back memories of my own laborious restoration where lots of replacement panels needed fettling to fit. But so worth it in the end. :D Mine is Almond Green which was always a favourite colour. But I love the sage just as much if not better, t...
