Brake light switch
I have just changed my brake light switch on my 1000. Again. I can't count how many of these things I have changed in recent years. Don't think the quality of new ones nowadays is any good. Wonder whether anyone has changed to an electric switch such as most modern cars have?

Re: Dynamo running as motor
Mike you'r right about the colours but I am not sure they are connecting correctly through the harness. Will have another look at the whole thing when I've got the engine ticking over better, the clutch linkage sorted. etc etc. Have never changed the polarity on this car scottie. Will flash it again...

Re: Dynamo running as motor

Will allow to dry overnight. Yes regulator is combined fuses and control with screw in connections .It's ...

Will check control box tomorrow. Think wiring correct. Everything was working prior. Hope don't have to get another control box. This one is NOS correct old type for MM. Regards.

Dynamo running as motor
My fan belt flew off and I discovered the dynamo was running by itself like a motor. Switching off ignition did not stop it. Have disconnected battery. Why is it doing this and how do I stop it?

bolts water outlet to head & connecting pipe
What is the thread on these bolts (item 186 on plate A - continued in service parts list) please?
Also does anyone have a metal connecting pipe (item 214 on same page)?

Re: Headlining
I removed the cloth headlining on my MM because the boards it was fixed to were grotty. It is very difficult to handle those boards and spring them into position. Am wondering whether I could stick some sorta insulation lining direct to the roof and then glue new cloth to that. Any views?

Re: indicators
I have fitted a new wiring harness to my MM and connected the semaphores but not yet any flashers. I asked auto sparks to wire for flashers as well as semaphores. Sure enough I have spare wiring for the flashers at each sidelight position. Under the dash I have two spare wires with female spade conn...

Its a bit of a cheek for us to raid them but the Morris Register had those metric nuts and studs and kindly sold me some.

Re: Spanner and thread sizes
Have plenty of spanners but I would like to know the threads so that can get spare nuts and bolts. Which are UNF and which UNC? For example what are the screws holding the door pulls on and which are those fixing the glove box surround?

Spanner and thread sizes
biggingers list is great but can one assume that all the threads on a minor 1000 are BSF. ( Leaving out the funny metrics on MM's!) If not can someone list the variants?

Temperature gauge
I have a gauge (actually in my MGA) which has a defective bulb at the head end. This is not actually electric but works with a capillary tube (that's the one with the wiggly wire wound round it) I can only buy a complete new oil/water gauge unit, which very expensive. Could anyone find me an old tem...

Re: Studs
I was getting on until one of my studs sheared off level with the block. As a matter of interest I have been roaming around metric fine on google. Found a piece called mad metrics by Roger Furneaux of MG club T type section. Also found metric fine bolts and screws on Nmarick.

Re: Studs
Thanks for all that. I did find 8.8 stamped on the metric bolts I have. Sorry about the back. I wrecked mine over 40 years ago but have survived with diligent application to stretching exercises. (Am now going rowing in the sun.)
