Lubricating the rubber bushes with brake fluid may solve the problem.

Re: traveller rear post how to replace

[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1275419903_36 [/frame] The problem is that the way that travellers were built originally the wood was assembled on a jig, then the roof was nailed on top, then the whole lot was bolted and screwed onto the chassis. Fixing the rear pillar to the middle rail ...

Re: engine over run?

The usual reason why an engine keeps on running when you turn off the ignition is because the mixture is too weak.
Try unscrewing the mixture adjusting nut at the bottom of the carb by one flat or two and seeing if it makes any difference.

Re: Stuck in 1st gear!!

Two possibilities. Firstly something has gone wrong wrong with the selector fork mechanism for first/second gear such as the locking screw falling out. Secondly some debris floating around in the gearbox has lodged itself somewhere and is preventing the first gear cog from moving. This could be part...

7" drums are OK provided you keep everything in tip top condition and don't drive too close to the car in front.

Re: rear brake adjusters

Using a washer as a spacer sounds a bit dodgey to me. I make little spacers from pieces of sheet aluminium with the ends bent up to stop the adjusters sliding about too much.

So long as your engine is not getting so hot that your radiator is boiling over and you are continually having to top it up I would not worry about it.

Re: Needle Question

The other possibility (as you have an early Minor) is that the carb has a brass float in it which has sprung a leak and sunk to the bottom of the float chamber in which case you need to get all the petrol out of it and solder up the hole.

Re: Can You Name That Sound In One?

Your back axle should have Hypoid 90 oil in it. From your description it is not clear what sort of oil you are using but running it with engine oil it it will not do it any good.

Re: Needle Question

As the petrol level in the float chamber rises the float should also rise and cause a valve to shut which prevents more petrol entering the float chamber and keeps the petrol level in the float chamber ( and hence the petrol level in the jet ) constant. If the petrol level in the float chamber is so...

The easiest way is to use a special drill to remove the spot welds.

(This link does not appear to work however Googling "Cobalt Spot Weld Drill" comes up with several on ebay.)

Consider replacing your oil filter if it has not been changed recently.
A blocked filter will result in the symptoms that you have described and replacing it is relatively easy.

The rear axle for the 1098cc engine has a filler hole in the axle case but not in the differential casing. If someone has fitted a 1098cc differential to a 948cc axle case there is no filler hol...

Re: Brakes Problem

The likely reasons that brake cylinders leak are (in order of occurence): 1. The rubber seals are perished. 2. The inside of the cylinders are corroded which has caused the rubber seals to wear. If the inside of the cylinders are not corroded then it should be possible just to replace the seals ESM ...
