Is your car completely standard? Do you have a brake servo fitted?

Re: Spare wheel aperture board
The cover was certainly factory fitted from around the early '60s I reckon. Probably at the same time as the Duotone trim was introduced? Any Traveller which has the retaining fillets fitted will have had the cover to begin with, which was exactly as Simon describes it above. In the parts book - and...

Re: Rear View Mirror. Replacements that fit
Each of your cars have the correct mirror for the age of car. Many changes to specification were made during the long production run. The plain black mirror was fitted to earlier cars upto 1964 when the dashboard was resigned and the plastic "safety mirror" introduced along with the soft c...

Re: Tyre pressures
Remember that the manual was written for crossply tyres, radials would be a little higher. I run two Travellers, 28 all round normal, 32 on rear when fully loaded or towing. No, that is not the case. The drivers handbook specifically mentions radial tyres too which were available as an option

Re: Rear Disc Brake Conversion
Unless your car has some huge, very powerful engine in it and/or you are racing or driving on a European tour, I cannot imagine why on earth you would need to consider such a modification as rear disc brakes. My own Minor 1000 stops perfectly well with completely standard brakes but I understand tha...

Les. Assuming you have completed all the paperwork correctly to inform the DVLA of your sale, Yes, you will receive an automatic refund. I did when I changed my modern car

Re: Convertible hood
Pearl Grey was listed as the original hood colour of my convertible, so it is a standard colour. As such I'd expect it to be still readily available now? It is very light - an off white really.

Re: Door adjustment advice
There does appear to be an additional strip of rubber along the top of the kick plate? That might not help. Also, you've cut the draught excluder too short so it is not flattened and retained by the kick plate as it should be at the bottom. Again, that might not help but probably you need to do a bi...

Re: Help- loss of ignition side elements
You still haven't told us what year/model your car is. Many parts changed on Morris Minors over the years which is why that question was asked. The later cars had "Lucar" push-on wiring connections so changing the fusebox is cheap and simple. If you have this type, my advice would be to pu...

Re: Plywood Boot Shelf fixings Screws?
Just look at the sizes of hole in the car's metalwork beneath the wooden boards  On my car the wooden boards are secured by countersunk self tapping screws where they attach to a small bracket on each wheelarch (one screw on each side). Similar countersunk self tapping screws into the steel pa...

I don't think there is any shortage of secondhand halfshafts. The OP already has a NEW pair which he was able to purchase at a bargain price. His question is regarding heat treating them

Re: Hardening half-shafts
I know halfshafts CAN break, but how often do people think it actually happens on Morris Minors? Certainly I have never had one break in more than 50 years of driving these cars - and that includes competing in sprints and autotests in the past with a 1340cc engined Minor with standard halfshafts. I...

Re: New lights
The headlamp wiring colours are the same from beginning to end and very simple to follow. Blue/white is the live supply to the main beam. Blue/red is the live supply to the dipped beam and black is the earth. These colour wires should plug into the same colour wires/connectors all the way through th...

Re: Indicators
The power for the indicators comes from the fuse box and has no connection at all with the headlamps which have no fuse at all. The same fuse also supplies power to the wipers, fuel gauge, heater fan etc so if they are working it isn't a fuse problem but probably a wiring connection disturbed behind...

Re: 100k on the clock
That is only about 1600 miles per year though isn't it? Hardly a high mileage. I have no idea how many miles my own car has covered but certainly more than that and I know of several Minor 1000 owners whose cars have covered between 200,000 and 350,000 miles, so I wouldn't think that mileage alone i...

Re: Wow!
Quite outstanding isn't it!. I'm a little surprised how many parts are not original though if it hasn't been used. The wheels are the wrong colour for that age of car and (not surpisingly) the tyres are more recent, the battery (and the connections of course) is completely incorrect and the battery ...
