Re: Trafficator mounting plates
Such parts are readily available if you go through the many parts specialists in the club magazine and make a few phone calls or emails. I've never failed to find quite obscure parts for my cars.

Re: Minor Matters indicator switch
It is the rear part of the indicator stalk fitted to early Minor 1000 models (1956 - 1958 ish?) which also operated the horn. Before those with the green warning light on the end

Re: Can You Retrofit a Split Screen?
It would be MAJOR surgery. Completely different roof and pillars, different dashboard, different bonnet - plus, you'll probably never get the windscreen to seal up if my experiences of split-screen Minors is anything to go by! If you really want a split screen car, just go out and buy one. They are ...

Re: overheating water pump?
You say that when you stop you lose "a significant amount" of coolant. From where though? Is it from the rad cap, the water pump, or somewhere else? That might be a clue. Also, if the owner really is "new" to older cars, perhaps he isn't aware that there is no need to keep brim-...

Re: Go on then….
Your guess is as good as anyone's! As you say, the glovebox lid isn't originally from your car anyway but the cut out probably was made - and very neatly too - for a timepiece of some sort. There were quite a few rectangular clocks and gauges around for a while. It is quite interesting to guess and ...

Only because they hadn't got around to finishing it
The coachline on a Trafalgar Blue car was generally Pearl Grey in colour I believe.

Re: Overheating
If you drain the coolant, do the tubes in the radiator look clear? It could simply be that the radiator has become blocked. Have you tried another decent run since replacing the radiator car? I'm assuming you've checked the fanbelt and that the water pump is doing its job? Does the car overheat stan...

Well done. It's a very satisfying little repair. That's exactly how I did mine. Floppy door handles do let the car down a bit don't they

That is good progress. The horn contact inside the steering column is the same for both types of steering wheel, so the wheels are interchangeable. You just need the correct hornpush.

Car restoration paints: Ken and Lyn. 07778 165966. I purchased a litre of cellulose paint from them last year for one of my cars. Very happy with their service which I have used before on several occasions.

Re: Rear door handle spring
I don't think the rear handles ever changed during production. I did this repair on one of my handles some years ago and the instructions above seem to echo my experience very effectively. You're lucky that it is a rear handle because removal involves a lot less dismantling than a front one. Once yo...

That looks a perfect project car! Plenty to do and learn there but very rewarding too. One of the last Travellers built. I think you'll find that one is Teal Blue rather than Trafalgar Blue Very nice.

Having done such a thorough job of dismantling the car so far, I would carry on a little further: Take the opportunity to remove the rear wings too and get fresh paint and protection around the fixing flanges before re-fitting them with new wing piping. Also, I would definitely strip all the previou...

I did have a similar problem on my Minor 1000 a while ago after fitting new rear shoes. I got around it by welding a small strip of steel onto the base of the adjuster.

Re: Restoration Project - Value?
The best way to properly achieve the car's value is probably to sell by auction. Maybe on ebay or similar? Any of us can give you a guess - and I would say it is perhaps worth around £1200.00 in that condition? - but in the end, it is worth exactly what somebody is prepared to pay for it. To restore...

Re: Beyond saving?
We can still only see small areas of the underside but the areas you have photographed above look pretty sound and original to me. A good start! If the rear seat supporting box - which is also just above the front mounting of the rear springs - is sound, I would say that the car is a reasonable rest...

Is your car completely standard? Do you have a brake servo fitted?
