Re: Clutch question
Certainly check the adjustment, but before you rush to fit a new clutch check every component of the clutch linkage for wear. A bit of wear here and there can add up to a lot at the pedal and the parts are not expensive. A whole kit of new parts is only about £30.00 from ESM etc and it is worth payi...

Re: tyre prices
Have you considered Blockley Tyres? They seem quite reasonably priced and have a decent reputation in the classic/vintage car world.
Might be a worthwhile alternative.

Re: Water Leak
Yes. Most likely the water pump - or possibly just the by-pass hose. Either way, it is best to replace the short hose with a cut length of heater hose. Don't fit one of those ridiculous crushable soft rubber jobs that last about 6 months

Re: Electrical issues.
All those items are run through the same fuse, so that is likely to be where the problem lies. The fuse is probably either blown or the connections dirty  Actually, the horn is NOT run through the same fuse, so that'll be something else. One fuse deals with everything ignition fed: Indicators,...

Re: Why is it..?
I think it has been difficult to find a good Traveller for a reasonable price anywhere for a long time. They have always been very popular cars. Many will change hands without ever being advertised.

Re: Trafficator arm covers
Early cars (MM and some Series11) often had body colour covers but every Minor 1000 I've ever owned or seen along with every 4door Series 11 has had stainless steel ones. None were chromed. So I reckon stainless steel is the answer.

Re: Horn Push Problem
I agree. In my experience, the majority of electrical faults on our old cars are the result of a poor or dirty connection somewhere.+-

Re: Disc Brake Conversion Which one?>
Mine came with Marina discs and servo, new pads and fitting kit readily available and cheap to buy. Seems to stop well but have not tried a standard system. Standard brakes (the later, larger front drums) are more than adequate provided they are maintained in excellent condition (which often they a...

No doubt somebody will buy it but there is SO much to do and SO much missing that it will not be an easy project sadly. Still, the new owner will have plenty of time to investigate its history while he's taking breaks from the welding and fabricating......

Re: Heater (late square type) Overhaul
Those heaters did indeed always have a black crackle paint finish. The plastic ends are moulded to give a similar finish. The Mini of similar age uses basically the same heater, which were made by Smiths of course, and Mini specialists are a good source of parts for them as well as providing complet...

Re: One for the brave.......
I reckon you are right. I too think it reads GPO, stamped from the other side. Many of the early vans were GPO. I can't see the captive nuts present on the flitch, so maybe that was a difference? The GPO vans certainly had many differences in their specification.

No. Not 1950 for sure and probably pretty hard to register if it has no numbers or paperwork?

Re: Front valence
There should be no fixing of the valance to the wing at all. The valance is simply part of the front bumper and should be kept away from the front wing by small rubber grommets. Trial fitting is required and often some adjustment to obtain a good fit. It is something that frequently requires a bit o...

Excellent! A 1963 car probably just has a pull switch doesn't it? They can sometimes fail to make contact.

Re: Daughters car won’t start
When I first had a car I used to start it regularly with a starting handle - largely because a battery was so expensive in those days. I've never found it particularly difficult and it's certainly a good thing to have mastered in case you need it one day  As others have said, probably the swit...
