The hole centres in the two plates are the same length as the rod.

Re: HS2 carbs

Unfortunately it does matter which carb you do use. You should select a carb from the link below and which is cross referenced to your vehicle. http://sucarb.co.uk/cf/vehicle/list/?manufacturer=Morris&vehicle=Minor Have you tried centralizing the jet in the carb body? See the technical section o...

Re: oil warning light intermitant when driving

Declan
I think that you will find that the engine size is either 918cc, 948cc, 1098cc or 1275cc as Paul refers to the long bolt that secures the oil filter bowl to the filter head in his original post.

Re: Clutch

When the end of the rod was bent stress was introduced into the rod and that is the root cause of the fracture and ultimate breakage. The rod Pt No: ACA5002 is available from MOSS. Item No: 41 in the link below. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/morris/minor/clutch-gearbox-drive-train/clutc...

Re: Belt & Braces

No they will not be fighting each other - they will be assisting each other. When the tele dampers are fitted it is usual for the damper valves to removed from the lever arm dampers and the hydraulic oil to replaced with straight 30 grade oil so that they just become the front suspension top links. ...

Years ago woodwork that was not going to be seen was painted with real Red Lead paint. That wood never rotted but its application addled the brain

Re: oil warning light intermitant when driving

If you have over 50lb/sq in pressure when warm I would not worry too much about it - it is a good indicator that all is well with the engine and that clearances are within tolerances. It should be remembered that with an engine in good order the relief valve at standard setting operates at 60lb/sq i...

Re: oil warning light intermitant when driving

What you want out of a oil pump is flow not necessarily pressure. High pressure does two things:- 1. It produces heat which can heat the oil to a temp where the oil starts to break down. 2. Pumping at high pressure takes power. Here is a good link to oil pumps:- http://www.calverst.com/technical-inf...

Re: oil warning light intermitant when driving

Unfortunately your engine is showing all the classic signs of being worn out. Before doing anything you must check and record the oil pressures at idle, medium revs and at normal running revs. Post those readings on here to get further advice on the way forward. At a minimum you may get away with ju...

Re: Wheel Arch Protectors

The main areas of rust form around and over the headlamps, the inside rear of the front wing, around the mid placed jacking points, around the inside rear of the rear wing/tie down eye and at the bottom/underside starting at the 'A' posts and running back to the 'B' & 'C' posts. The exhaust heat...

Re: Wheel Arch Protectors

So long as the underside of the wings/wheel arches are regularly hosed down there is no need for underwing/wheel arch protectors. Unless those under wing/wheel arch protectors are very close fitting and therefore do not allow any moisture/crud past - the fitment of the protectors could make the prob...

Re: Checking differential oil

There must be some variance in the size and depth to the filler/drain plug central square hole as I have just tried a 3/8" drive socket bar in the square hole of the drain/filler plugs fitted to my 1098cc axle case/4.55 diff and whilst it does not tightly fit the holes (& it will not do so ...

Re: New Traveller Woodwork Out of Square

Thank you for the explanation as regards the frames. From your description above I had assumed wrongly as it turns out that though assembled the side frames had not been screwed and glued. As they had been glued and screwed the frames could be placed on top of each other and the discrepancy discover...

Re: Fan-Belt too large

Because cracking of the fan blades is a well known problem the blade mounting holes should be checked for signs of radial cracking on a regular basis even though the stiffener plate may be fitted.

As the square hole in the filler/drain plugs are tapered a 3/8" 'T' bar or ratchet is more than sufficient to undo/do up the drain/filler plug.

Re: New Traveller Woodwork Out of Square

The problem with wood is that it is (or was) a living thing and even cut to exact tolerances will distort/move/shrink/expand over time especially if not fully seasoned. Personally I would go back to the supplier and explain the problem and see what they have to say. If the supplier cannot help you m...

Re: Rear Brakes

The rear brake cylinder has only limited radial sic. float in the back plate slot but that float must be free moving with no resistance. To help keep the cylinder body against the back plate the cylinder body has an integral hook which fits through the back plate slot. If the rear dust cover is fitt...
