Re: Front wheel bearings
I also need to check if there was an error sending only one set rather than two... Is that £56 for one bearing or one side (inner and outer). What make are the bearings? Many bearings are made in the far east but inspected in Europe, they are more expensive than far east produced and inspected bear...

Re: Front wheel bearings
Are you having trouble with the bearings? If so, strip the hub and the bearing identification numbers will be stamped on the bearings. If you don't have a problem, add a bit of grease now and then and leave them alone.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Original RHP mg midget front bearings ( 34/LJT 25 and 3 MJT 17) which also fit the minor are available from Bearings Impex Ltd, Crewe. However IIRC they cost over £100 + vat per side. Obviously this information is useless if you have Ford or Marina disks.

Re: Marina Disc Brakes
Assuming that you don't have a problem with the hubs or bearings, I would phone ESM and ask them if the studs are available and are they long enough for your wheels.

Re: Marina Disc Brakes
That's really interesting Phil, I would have thought that the stud holes in the hubs would be filled and re-drilled for the 4" pcd minor wheel.

IIRC I used https://www.morrisminorspares.com/rear- ... mm-p831261 as the original minor front studs are short for the thicker alloy wheels.

Are you sure that that's for marina disks? Looks more like the Midget or sprite disk conversion bracket.

That's what I have on my 1098 with a 12G940 head, I opened the holes slightly to allow some rotation.

This is the type fitted to mine, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Mini-A-Series-Rockers-1275/402097912941?hash=item5d9ee73c6d:g:afMAAOSwn1Jd36xv They are designed to fit all the a series engines. Be careful of fitting higher lift rockers or a high lift cam as this will require more material to be ...

Well remembered Declan. I fitted an MGB mk1 thermostat housing with the holes slightly enlarged. Throttle cable came from eBay.

My exhaust is 1.75 and it goes brilliantly. I asked to have the valves recessed when I had the hardened seats fitted.

Re: Help With Engine Rebuild/Larger Head
12g940 head fits but you need to ensure that the exhaust valves don't hit the block, I had to sink my exhaust valves 0.040" into the head. You will need also need the sintered type rockers as the standard 1098 rockers don't align with the valves on the 940 head. Make sure that you use the 1275 ...

Whichever needle you decide on, I would ditch the ram pipe, it will be noisy. I did try a cone filter but that still got on my nerves so I ended up with a 1800 air filter fitted to the original carb to filter plate.

Hi Martin,
Yes the black knob is the breather, not all hif carbs have them, it depends which vehicle the carb was first fitted to.

Re: HIF44 carburetor
Check that you have connected the engine breather pipe and the float bowl overflow to the correct connections on the carburettor. I have always thought that they look like they should be connected the other way. See https://www.minimania.com/SU_CARBS___Co ... __HIF_type

Re: HIF44 carburetor
The mixture screw is connected to a bi-metal strip which alters the mixture for the choke. It should never require turning by more than a quarter of a turn in or out. If you try to richen the mixture by screwing it too far in, you will bend the bi-metal strip which will weaken the mixture.
