All truly modern bikes would be metric. Cotter pins went out during the 1970s and since then there have been square taper cotterless (Usually 8mm) and these have given way to Octalink/Isis (Metric again) and now there is "Capless", where the bottom bracket axle is attached permenently to t...

Well it is a Ford  . I don't see how something like that could go undetected. A friend has a VW Type 2 camper and that kept going when one of the pistons had gone (I think the crown had separated). Once he got it home, it was repaired.

Not at all common nowadays (Even UNF/C is harder to find nowadays - I recently got some from http://www.spaldingfasteners.co.uk/ ). The Traveller has some BS/W & some Unified (UNF/C). During WW2, the American system became popular (ANF/C) and this is the basis of UNF/C, which is what later Briti...

I'm... not sure. I just decided I wanted one. That could be the basis of another thread - why ? For me I wanted something practical, as a runabout, that I could work on myself, where parts were readilly available. The Traveller was also very roomy, so that ticked another box. I fully admit that the...

Not really sure but I reckon that the bread makes the sandwich. Nice fresh bread is more important than the filling.

Candidates for best filling:-

Caerphilly cheese, roast beef, smoked bacon, ham, raspberry jam, honey.....not all in the same sandwich!!

I don't think its fair to say all "Professionals". Like everything there's good and bad. Yes, they are in it for the money (Aren't we all) but if they get a bad reputation, they don't get the work and they don't get the money. Ofcourse there are the spiv operators, who rely on a throughflo...

When the welder says a minimum of £250, he means that he can currently see £250 of work, but that when he peels off the layers to start that work he will probably find more work that needs to be done first. :o Quite so!! The flat floor of the Midget means there are fewer rust traps underneath than ...

My Gran had a Trafalgar blue 2 door, but her driving wasn't that good as she kept "colliding" with things! Poor car was always being mended  My uncle's first car was a new 2 door (1955) and eventually every panel got dented (Including the roof, when he rolled it), either as a result ...

When I was born, my father owned a Wolseley Hornet (Mini derivative) but the first car I remember properly was his Austin Mini Countryman, oddly enough in the same colour as my present Traveller. A neighbour from two doors down worked for Addis as a rep and had a green Morris Minor Traveller. I was ...
