Re: no power to trafficator switch
can you post a picture of your fuse box arrangement. I only have two fuses on my 1957 and yours may be different buy you could try taking a separate (long wire) feed from the power / fuse box to the trafficator live and seeing if it still works

Re: Tip for cleaning your Morris Minor seats and saving money!
I eventually got the gear lever handbrake version as the Crooklock a) tended to bend the pedal and b) bend the steering wheel if fitted too tight. If fitted loose to avoid the steering wheel bending, the steering wheel could be forced down to release the crook lock. Someone did suggest one end aroun...

I have had mine nearly 40 years and have never seen them, but they are shown on the parts list for back and front brake drums.

Re: 1956 2dr Split Screen
Passenger seat will clean up nicely with the Woolies kits Cleaner feed and leather paint) They make them look good but not new. if you can get a seat with an intact upright leather facing, it can be patched to the seat on the drivers side as it is bigger than the seat - the padding and seat webbing ...

Re: 1956 2dr Split Screen
Would it not have had an 803cc originally as the 948cc was not fitted until Oct 1956 when the screens were enlarged? Someone could have fitted a 1098 cc at one point and informed the DVLA or had a new engine anyway and was told it was 1098cc when it was in fact 948cc. Superficially difficult to tell...

Re: 2 door VAE 306H
Don't blame you for that, my experience of them was that no matter how well prepared, rust always seemed to peer out of the seam in next to no time as the seam is open at the back as well

Re: 2 door VAE 306H
They are the pattern ones with the diagonal seam and very thin, if you can afford, replace. The only leaded seam was between the light and the front panel on the original wings and this was not done on the later models.

Re: 1958 948- A 'quick' touch up
Looking excellent. I did the same as you and restored my '57 4 door (May 57 production- June 57 registration) to original back and front lights so the post '63 holes in the back wings needed filling in. I noted that the front wings, in paint, had the post '63 holes. Are you going to put the original...

Re: fuel gauge
It should be identifiable from the car number on the chassis plate or stamped into the bulkhead. Mine is 1957 Clarendon grey and darker than yours. Yours looks about 1960 /61 with the larger front sidelights You might find the BMC paint guide on Charles Wares site useful as it shows what years paint...
