Re: Manifold Work Tips?
Definitely worth checking to see if the leak is in the joint between the pipe and the manifold before resorting to pulling the manifold off. That joint is a favourite for blowing - the standard clamp is not the best design. ESM offer a more robust version: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/engine-c1...

Re: Manifold Work Tips?
You don't need to remove the carb, just release and tie the manifold out the way with the carb, exhaust pipe etc. still attached. The Exhaust pipe joint may be compromised doing this though. If the pipe joint needs to be re-made, jack the pipe into position before fitting the clamp.

Re: Clutch not “working
As above, almost certainly a stuck clutch from sitting idle. The adjustment isn't going to go out through sitting still all winter. As 'ManyMinors' suggests, getting the engine warmed up may be enough to free it. Or it may need to be shocked apart as already suggested. It will come free in the end.

Re: Clutch fork gaiter
Ah, I understand now. Yes, I can see that the gaiter is being pulled out in your picture. Have you been underneath with someone else pressing the pedal down so you can see if anything is catching anywhere? Maybe someone else will be along in a bit with ideas....obviously, it shouldn't pull out norma...

Re: Clutch fork gaiter
Well, that's odd as all the ones I've seen have a more oblong hole and gaiter. The ESM one (for all OHV models) is oblong: https://www.morrisminorspares.com/gearbox-c76/gearbox-all-o-h-v-models-gearbox-c79/rubber-gaiter-for-clutch-lever-22h1337-p830859 The question then is - what shape hole have you...

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
Just to add, you will need to make sure the float is full of fuel before by-passing the ign. switch as the pump will not work without ignition switch on.

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
Linda, you say "I can get the headlights to come on, the interior light works as does the horn. I can't get indicators to work yet." The lights and horn work whether or not the ignition is on, but the indicators will only work if the ignition is switched on. It does suggest a fault in the ...

My old switch didn't have the shoulder like yours, so I was able to use a box spanner to remove and fit the new one - even easier!

See this thread, especially the last four posts. It seems parallel threads with a washer were used at some point: viewtopic.php?p=686898&hilit=oil+pressu ... ch#p686898

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
The front and rear lights should come on if the switch to the right of the ignition key is switched on, even with ignition off. As to this mysterious knob for stopping the car (engine?), it could be some kind of hidden isolator switch, but you would think the guy who delivered the vehicle would have...

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
Well, for the record, Ray Newell's Original Morris Minor states that "Some later vehicles supplied to to the police and the armed services had an alternator fitted". He goes on to list engine numbers for those that had the alternator. However, I believe these were positive earth alternator...

Re: Engine Copper Heater Pipe - Does this look normal?
I would definitely be replacing that damaged hose and examining the other hoses very carefully, especially after getting the car running again as the hot water can hasten their deterioration if on the way out. Numerous reports on here in the past poor quality rubber components. As for the jubilee cl...

Re: Engine Copper Heater Pipe - Does this look normal?
As for the hose, I would be tempted to replace it. Yes, you could cut the end off and re-fit, and you could try and tape something over the split, but it suggests the hose is perishing and likely to break down again. Who knows how old it is? Always worth periodically checking the condition of all ho...

But no overheads like garage rental, business rates etc. if spraying on someone's driveway! Seriously though, there is something a bit odd about this thread - both 'Col. Chestbridge' who wanted a re-spray, and 'Key Shawn-Johnson', who claimed he had his car re-sprayed for £700 have disappeared...

Re: Fuel smell
The problem is discovering exactly where the leak is - and it may be very small. It is not unusual for Minors to have a bit of a petrol smell, especially after filling up - which suggests either the fuel sender gasket or the filler hose (hose itself, or tightness of the hose clips) I have had proble...

I'm much more relaxed about it. I keep a mental note in my head and roughly follow the schedule, but this is quite flexible and I don't work to specific dates, so its a bit rough and ready....nothing gets left too long though

Astounded? Its only two pages. Using the choke is a much more simple operation to fitting beehive springs and that thread ended up at nine pages! I suspect it would have been even longer had it not eventually been locked
