Which Part Am I Looking For?

Evening all Starting the panel shopping for the Panda, but there's something I'm not sure of. The part of the rear quarter on which the rear wing bolts has rotten quite significantly. 20210116_132252.jpg 20210116_132257.jpg This doesn't seem to be a part of the inner wing panel so is there another a...

Re: A couple of questions 1098 Engine rebuild.

Could you use white vinegar?

I imagine filling the water ways and leaving for a few hours/days will do a good job.

I have used this method before with cleaning metal detecting finds and it does work well

Re: Gold Seal Engine Painting

Thank you Rob....I'll definitely bear that in mind. It does look a reasonable colour match although if JowettJavelin manages to get something by having the original paint scanned, this may be even closer. It's always great to have options, so thank you for posting. Oh 100%. We matched some engine p...

Available from Frosts https://www.frost.co.uk/brands/vht-paint/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpYK5x7ae7gIVo-jtCh2G8AeQEAAYAyAAEgLQu_D_BwE Thanks Phil, I see they stock a range of engine enamels and VHT paints, but I'm not sure they have the colour I think is closest. I mean my eye could be way off! Sorry edite...

Panda the 1970 Police Car

Afternoon all I was given a tip off that there was a fairly good Morris Minor sat in a garage yard after the owner didn't want to pay for the welding work it needed. So after a quick look and some research, it turned out to be an ex Met Police Panda Car, which made it a no brainer. ELB753J A previou...

Re: Gold Seal Engine Painting

Now that goldseal engine in my Moggy would be fun! :D Wouldn't it just!! I am struggling to find a UK suppliet but it is readily available in the US That's because they are principally an American domestic paint brand, basically part of Dupli-Color, which is a Sherwin-Williams brand. You may find y...

Re: Gold Seal Rebuild

Way back (55 years ago now) I fitted a factory 948cc short engine to my A35 van over a weekend. I cannot remember whether it was a Gold or Silver unit but it cut down the overall cost and made the job so much easier. :D I imagine it did Phil! I remember rebuilding a mini engine a few years back onl...

Re: Gold Seal Engine Painting

I've been looking at repainting my goldseal engine too. And the closest I can find is this: VHT SP404 Metallic Gold Flake 61mp0ueReoL._AC_SL1500_.jpg 39a7d07c-2bef-5fb0-9161-6f4949530fda.jpeg.jpg These aren't my photo's but them online. Re: Gold Seal Rebuild

From MG Guru site... https://mgaguru.com/mgtech/engine/be100a.htm A BMC Gold Seal Engine was a factory Reconditioned replacement engine (painted gold). There were also BMC Silver Seal engines (painted silver). Notice in the picture the sticker on side of the valve cover. T Thanks Taupe, a great bit...

Re: Gold Seal Rebuild

Seems to me you are ‘jumping the gun’ on this one. If it ain’t actually broken, don’t try to fix it. It may simply just need a good service. As an edit: Are you intending to dismantle the clutch, gearbox and rear axle as well? They may well have been in service longer than that gold seal engine. Ye...

Re: Gold Seal Rebuild

First of all, is it top end or bottom end smoking.? I'm not sure as I've not opened it up yet. The smoke goes grey when throttle is pressed and then stays grey at idle. It's tricky to tell with it being cold too. Yeah I thought as much, I was unsure as to whether or not the re-grind/re-bore sizing ...

Gold Seal Rebuild

Morning all As I've mentioned before, I've recently acquired a 1970 Met Panda car and it has what I believe to be a Goldseal 1098 fitted. As part of the restoration, I intend to sort the engine. It runs fine, but smokes a little. The nature of goldseal engines is that they've already been reconditio...

Re: Ex-Police Equipment

It was completely by chance looking through car and classic on the internet and there it was, luckily the person selling it had shown the registration number on the photo so I knew it was mine. ELB is certainly a met panda number. If you want any help with the correct signage and equipment I will t...

Re: Ex-Police Equipment

This one is mine. An ex metropolitan police panda which is correct. I should know as its the actual car that I drove brand new out of Surbiton police station in April 1968 as a very young police officer. Blimey! Hit the jack pot with that one. Was that on purpose or by chance? Mine is also Met poli...

Ex-Police Equipment

Afternoon all, Hope all are well. So I've just got hold of a second project, after the first seems to be a non-starter owing to too much work. It's a 1970 ex-police vehicle. It was 'rat-looked' a few years back with Ka seats fitted, but I'll be picking it up from someone else locally to me. I have e...

Re: URGENT! Engine I.D needed

And to you!

No my minor has a 1098 as standard.

I was considering purchasing to pass on to someone else, as I rarely seem to see any.

But at £100 collected it may be a bit steep for a 'punt'

Mainly based on the oil filter attachment point.

It also has an early two-part intake/exhaust manifold.

Don

This is as I thought, thank you Don.

Are these worth getting hold of? I was looking for 1275 ideally. But I know the 803's are becoming harder to find

URGENT! Engine I.D needed

Evening all! I'm after a replacement engine and this has been pointed out local to me. Engine number: SRA3-R-N9466 It's a good price and only round the corner. Thanks guys Screenshot_20201231-212053_Facebook.jpg Screenshot_20201231-212048_Facebook.jpg Screenshot_20201231-212029_Facebook.jpg

Re: Where to start

I had something similar with my Traveller. I stripped it down completely, everything off the bodyshell and then you can tip the whole thing on it's side fairly easily. I didn't use a roller as they mount on the bumper brackets and mine were too far gone. I did the floors first, then the sills. You ...
