I see , I may just fit what I can then , and one day il get round to fitting the engine !
Do you know anything about the trunnions weather they are fully screwed onto the hub ( as far as they will go) ? Il get a few pics up of what iv done so far .

So I take it there's no way of fitting the top to the damper ? I don't know how I removed it all to be honest! Il have a go though at the weekend , the top and bottom trunnions when fitted to the hub , are they screwed down fully on the hub ?

Hi all, I'm in the middle of a restoration (Barrie's project) , I have just had the engine bay painted . Ready for the front suspension to be fitted ,what is the correct sequence in fitting the full set up of the suspension ? If it was me I would = 1. Fit the torsion bar 2. Fit damper 3.fit the tie ...

All lacquered , left to dry for an hour , then warmed up to help cure it , the lacquer was mixed at a ratio of 5/1 . So 5 parts lacquer, 1 parts hardener , also we added a little rocket that accelerates the hardening of the lacquer (just a little dribble ) I had to remove the sheeting as the barn it...

We used an infrared heat lamp , the second coat of color went on a treat and the filter worked well ,as you can see it soon turned black , the filter is proper booth filters cable tied to the fan

The first coat of colour on , this is water base paint , in took a around 15 minutes to dry

I used a small fan for getting fresh air in , and it helped with drying the base coat

Hi all , just had the engine bay painted , it was a bit of a palaver making the booth out of sheeting , here you can see the fan I used as a filter system

Managed to prep the engine bay . I used 320 grit on a da to quickly buzz it down then 800 grit to finish it off .then finished off with red scotch bright around the edges. Then a good blow off and de grease. Then masked up . Ready for next weekend .

Il be prepping the engine bay on Sunday , ready for a mate to come in and paint it properly , il have to make a makeshift booth and an extractor fan , he will be fully kitted out with safety in mind, so hopefully in two weeks the engine bay will be painted , and I can fit the drivers side suspension...

Just a quick update,it seems that the heater holds water, thankfully! But it's not a definite success until the car is up and running, today I cleaned up the battery clamp and a few other things, and painted them, I used one of those heat induction things to burn off the paint and remove the rust th...

Very true, also the heat would expand the steel radiator to a degree and show up any leaks which may not show up using cold water ,

Can you not hook it up to a tap using garden hose and run water through it that way. Once the water is coming out the other end turn the tap down to a trickle and gently place a digit over the outlet to build up a bit of pressure (not too much though) and then check for leaks. I managed to get the heater all painted (not all original colours though). I tried to test the motor without the speed switch connected, It didn't work , I went through half a day thinking it was knackered, I built it up fully at lunch time and tested again and it worked ! Ok , il look for a place that does pressure testing , I didn't think of that . I'm hoping it's ok , it seems in good nick for its age but I don't want it leaking all over new carpets , if I get to that stage
