Re: RB106 Modifications and Repairs

I have found good original CVC boxes to be perfectly reliable when correctly set - and left alone. Having said that I have fitted an Electro-Dynamics Solutions solid-state conversion to two broken regulators now; one an RB.310 and the other a RB.106/2 and have never looked back. They’re not expensiv...

Doesn’t look like a bargain to me for an unknown condition gearbox. And I cringe every time I see one stood on its end like that.

JJ - are the screws you mention visible in the diagram posted above?
Yes but the glove box will have to be removed first.

Oh yes, that happened too, the cure was to shim the spindle with brass for a tight fit.

Re: Gold Seal Engine Painting

I sent Craftmaster paint a few sample engine parts and they made a couple of aerosol cans for me. I am pleased with the colour match. Craftmaster should have it on their system now.

Re: Wiping the Air!

Are the slotted head screws at the wheelbox inside the car tight. I had problems with my Series II passenger side wiper until I tightened these.

First of all what are the colours of the cables at the light unit, and what is the terminal arrangement?

Re: calling the police

Yes, I occasionally cycle on the pavement, because there are terrible motorists too (who would have thought). But, I'm mostly interested in getting from A to B with the minimum of hassle, not mowing down children and old ladies with dogs. Aren't I bad.

Re: !

Ha ha, I enjoyed that Maurice; and not too far from the truth! I was walking with my wife and dog on a narrow pavement yesterday. My wife was carrying a package, and I was holding the dog lead. E scooterist came up behind us and dinged his bell. My wife was startled and unfortunately moved to one s...

Re: calling the police

I don’t see what the problem is. How is it different from a mobility scooter which take up much more room and usually piloted by the less able-bodied. Or riding a bike.

Re: No washer on sump plug

There does indeed need to be a copper washer there, which is malleable. This allows for expansion and contraction of the drain plug against the sump when the oil heats up. It also acts a sandwich piece to protect the drain hole. Without a washer, you may not only get leakage but the worst case scena...
