Looking at Jowett Javelin's engine photos I think we are pretty 'close' but I have chosen a gloss finish over matt which makes a visual difference. JJ - your car appears to be from late '54 to '56? If that is the case then blue engines make an appearance more than once across the Series II production.

Thanks for the comment Jowett J. I believe I have the correct shade of 'blue' after some investigation. I can't wait for the rally field comments - 'You've painted the engine the wrong colour'. There are very few of these 'blue' engines about and no-one, so far, can say how many were produced or when.

Mine arrived at 13.30hrs today.

On the colour, I have to agree with 'ManyMinors' that the Frilford Grey colour looks to be the most likely.

As I have mentioned previously, it looks as though my Series II was painted 'brown' underneath straight from the factory and (looking at period black and white photos of the production line) the bodyshell topside painted down to meet it at the cills etc. Enough of the brown paint finish has survived...

Just the air silencer de-rusted and painted today. There are several dents remaining in the top casing but I suppose that is all part of the car’s history.
