High Quality Cable?

Looking at some wiring I did just a few years ago - auxilliary stuff outside of the main loom like a oil/water gauge bulb wire or the cigarette lighter - I notice quite a bit of it has gone a bit hard and brittle already. More fool me for thinking Halfords electrical cable would be long term... wher...

It's likely that your computer automatically rotates the image and this site doesn't.

What is that measuring? Gs as well?

Fun Period Gadgetry

I've been guilty of spending too much time on eBay and at an antiques centre near Lincoln recently. First, a heating element attachment to go with a Reece Fish carb - attempting to fit the carb itself may get its own thread if I can find or adapt a manifold. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51954...

We've been signed up for a milk delivery service for a while - I was devastated to hear him coming down the road in a diesel van!

Shiply and similar also take a significant cut - they're good for finding people but even better deals can often be found if you contact transporters directly.

Re: Poor EV reliability

A few tired tropes in here, aside from The Telegraph being utter trash since circa 2004. Here they're reporting an anecdote as a generalisable fact about EVs that they know will get people riled up, sad times for the paper. EVs are generally more environmentally costly to produce but the zero-low ta...

Re: Do you guys feel safe driving your Moggy??

That makes sense to me, there are factors that make it safer - standing out, being driven defensively, not being the target of road rage because it's too cute - as well as the obvious structural things that greatly increase the danger if an accident does happen. The name of the game is accident avoi...

Re: Do you guys feel safe driving your Moggy??

Isn't installing side-impact bars in the doors a requirement in Australia? I've often considered getting something welded in there. Regardless, primarily driving a 'Moggie' since I began, eight or so years ago, has made me drive slowly and defensively in all vehicles. The closest I've gotten to some...

Good points well made chaps.

I think I'll paint a spare door card and test it before committing fully.

Autumn Leaf Interiors - Pictures? Opinions?

I have a rebuilt engine ( link ) and newly welded and undersealed shell ( link ) lying about waiting to be combined, and my thoughts turn to the interior. The car is 'Trafalgar Blue' and had the light blue interior, including a filthy carpet, when I bought it back in 2014. I ran it with a darker nav...

Pretty good bodge no? The big-end doesn't come closer than an inch of the oil pickup bracket although the camera makes it look close. 20211128_120818_HDR.jpg Engine is timed in at the cam figure of 106 and assembly is pretty much done other than waiting on a timing cover gasket in the post. Then I j...

Re: Engine noise

From the video it sounds more pronounced when opening the throttle/accelerating?

I'd take a peek at the timing chain before removing the head and/or dropping the sump in case the old screwdriver trick isn't picking the noise up. Is the distributor gear and plate tightened down correctly?
