We have the 'adjustable' version of the Mini valve fitted in conjunction with Metro 4-pot front calipers. I would suggest using the EP 75W/90 multigrade oil. It gives you get the benefit of the lighter oil when cold, but still gives full protection when hot as well. Probably more the quirks of 1950's technology motoring. The Mini was even worse for misting up in the 60's! Once Ford developed 'through flow ventilation' in the Cortina, the misting problem was really resolved.the quirks of Moggy motoring

Ours is in a heated, dry garage, but once outside in cold damp air the inside of the front screen mists up very quickly. A heated front screen is the sure way of preventing condensation on the inside of the screen. Not cheap, and needs a relay and additional heavy duty cables to feed it, but it work...

The 'big bore' 1098 exhaust should be fine for a standard(ish) spec 1295 Marina engine, but I would think that the HIF44 would be a more suitable carburettor, especially if you envisage making some tweaks in the future?

If you are anywhere near Oxford, we have a full-length 'stand in' depth pit, with lights, air etc., that you are welcome to use. It's warm and dry too!

Which engine is the system designed to fit? It looks like you will need to rejig the beginning part of the pipework to get it to fit the exhaust manifold - once that is done the system will (definitely should) fit using the standard mounts. Phil, Do you have details of the Riley 1.5 rear brakes? Drum diameter, shoe size and cylinder bore diameter? I presume they are the same leading/trailing shoes set up as the standard Minor?

Which bore master cylinder is fitted? The 948 engined cars were originally fitted with a 7/8" bore, and the 1098 had a 13/16" bore. I am not sure if the early 7/8" master cylinder is still available, but if the later smaller bore unit is fitted to an early car, then the pedal pressure...
