Re: Hazard lights ..... on a budget
Thank you for the ideas. I have come up with a system that looks good on paper, using a double throw relay to transfer the main live away from the flasher relay to my new hazard relay Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your description, but instead of using the relay to switch power from one flasher to t...

Re: Hazard lights ..... on a budget
I think there's supposed to be a warning light too. Purpose-made hazard light switches disable the indicators (eg. by cutting the power to the flasher unit) when they are on, otherwise the lights will behave oddly if you forget to cancel the indicators manually.

It has a banjo and bolt, same as the rear slave cylinders.bmcecosse wrote:I 'think' the master cylinder has the BSF threads - but check what comes out since there are varying accounts of that.

Re: Which Speedo Required?
A while ago somebody (Judge?) told me the cable supplied with his 5 speed conversion kit had an inner that was slightly too long. This puts an excessive force on the bearings inside the head and will quickly wear them out. Could that be a problem in your case?

You should have seen the electrical stuff I added to my Land Rover - heavy duty alternator, battery cutout, engine bay light, front and rear cabin lights, rear spotlight, front and rear fogs, front spots, reversing lights, hazard lights, steering column flash and dip switch, towing electrics, electr...

That's weird. Which connector caused the problem? Any idea what was happening when it was pushed in too far?

Re: making an eezibleed filler cap for moggie
Charlie hi mate, I have a pipe at bleed nipple with a one way valve. Got it from halfords. I've tried and failed to use one of those to bleed a Minor single-handed. I think air was being sucked back in on the up stroke through the threads of the bleed nipples. I was struggling away with it in a You...

Re: Wiper spacer
Bit of an aside... The new chrome finishers I bought a few years ago were cut at a different angle to the originals (I'm guessing perhaps they were made for a Mini), which meant they didn't match the plastic spacers without some bodgery, and then afterwards the wipers wouldn't operate as well becaus...

I think you're OK if it's SORNed and kept off the road (which it should be anyway if it's not taxed).

I tried it once, it made a slight difference but I didn't bother to re-apply it when the effect wore off and I've since lost the bottle. I also tried a similar product that was supposed to stop the inside of the windscreen misting up. It made a horrible smeary mess and did nothing to stop the conden...

Compression test? That would enable you to rule out a problem with the new gasket.

Re: is it me or are modern rubber bits rubbish??
Moulding bushes is actually very easy. The tie-bar bushes I make are quite good. They are purposely softer than the repro rubber which is like "Blackpool Rock". I'll be testing them soon when I ged rid of this cold and the weather gets a bit better. I was thinking more of seals/gaiters th...

Yes, the new 'Kevlar reinforced' ones seem to develop cracks within a few months of fitting them.

Good stuff. I suppose the electronic ignition is charging the coil for longer so it's putting out a higher voltage.

For working on brakes, the brake pipe spanner. Less fiddly to use, and it's the correct length so you're less likely to accidentally overtighten a fitting with it. I don't think you really need a whole set of brake pipe spanners. I only have one (3/8" and 7/16" AF).

Re: is it me or are modern rubber bits rubbish??
I've been pondering how difficult it would be to make this kind of thing on a small scale. Assuming you could make the moulds yourself, do you then need a whole factory full of chemicals and machinery to make/cast/cure the rubber?

Sounds like a problem with the insulation of the HT king lead or possibly the end cap of the coil. Does the lead have a rubber boot on the end?

Re: making an eezibleed filler cap for moggie
Yes, I made a cap. The Eezibleed is a very handy tool. I didn't have the right size tap for the thread on the fitting, so I drilled the hole to clearance size and used the nut to hold it on. The problem with this is the fitting is quite short and the cast metal of the cap is quite thick, so I had to...
