Re: Heater control tap - simple solution

If, like me, you're fed up with the cable operated valves leaking so having to revert to fitting a brass tap on the engine then I think this is a great idea. I like it :tu1:

Re: Clutch cover scuffing on bell housing

A 1098 engine flywheel will lock up on a smooth case gearbox because the teeth on the starter ring touch the inside of the gearbox casing. The later ribbed case gearbox has more clearance and is fine. The clutch won't be causing the problem you're having.

Re: Clutch cover scuffing on bell housing

Do you have a smooth case gearbox fitted? The starter ring on a 1098 engine foul if fitted to a smooth case box.

Re: Fuel Pump Rapid Ticking

My traveller used to click and tap like a woodpecker in traffic. After it's restoration with a completely clean system and new pump I was, for the fist time since the rebuild, stuck in traffic for about an hour. After about three quarters of an hour the manic avian re-appeared tapping and knocking a...

Re: Don't ignore new rattles/creaking noises!

Check the other end of the tie rod as well. I found the little bolt that secures it to the hub can rust, wear and become loose, ESM supply them along with the bushes. When re-fitting I found it easier to get the lock nut on the front end first a few threads then manoeuvre the hub end into position b...

Re: Gear lever gaiter and new carpets

I did struggle as well but remember it only on goes one way round, there's an 'F' stamped into the retainer. I used a bradawl to first poke around to find one of the holes in the tunnel and loosely fitted the retainer with one screw, it was then a matter of poking around though the other retainer ho...

A weak rear spring can also cause the opposite front corner to raise up.

Re: Cold start Yes - Hot start No! Asdvice sought please.

This is for a bigger SU but it should be similar on your carb. You can see the 'clip' at the base of the brass outlet connection in this listing https://www.ebay.ie/itm/255532995022?hash=item3b7ef411ce:g:ZAAAAOSw4Ilev9-C&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAABEL8tPfD%2F3fvAf5WVDfu6RaJykRV%2FLkY4yy%2FPh26lVDthBvKW...

Re: Cold start Yes - Hot start No! Asdvice sought please.

If you look where the float chamber outlet is there should be what looks like a small metal clip set against the carb body, this is the cover for the vent/overflow. It is a simple hole drilled in the casting.
