Re: OIL WEEPING FROM HEAD
The oil is probably coming from the distributor hole and tracking across the head gasket. As far as I know that is the only place it can come from and then working up the cylinder head studs. I have a 1935 morris 8 and a mm minor and they both leak a small amount. I suppose you could put a smear of ...

Re: Which gasless MIG welder???
I used to have a Lincoln 180 with Argon and it was superbe but took up a lot of space so I sold it and got a SIP120 which can be used with or without gas. True you get a bit more splash with coated wire but it is OK for small jobs. You can always buy a small bottle for special jobs. In the end it al...

Re: Please Help
Hello Annie, I bought two carpet sets from Newtons, one for my pickup and one for my MM and was satisfied. They also were a good fit. Get some copydex for the sills and wheel arches and you will be OK. I havn't bought from any of the other suppliers but some one else will reply no doubt. Good motori...

Re: 1951 MM tourer almost back to standard
Gave the car its first decent run to-day, 101 miles and no problems. I still can't believe the heat from the heater with the water pump fitted, to think we have been freezing all these years when we went out in cold weather makes me cringe. New brakes all round next job. smithskids.

Re: VALVE GAPS AND EXHAUSTS AND INLETS!
I think you will find that larger valve clearance will give a shorter valve opening but the valve head will be in contact with the valve seat longer so in theory it will run cooler.

Re: Brake lining trouble - beware of Willow!
Rogerowen, I used an inside micrometer, reason for new drums was external rust and previous owners use of large hammers to remove drums and half the rim flanges!!. The bores were ok only 0.010inch wear. smithskids

Re: Brake lining trouble - beware of Willow!
I have used ESMs Mintex on my MM and Pickup and they seemed ok the problem I had was with the new front brake drums for the pickup. They were 7 7/8inch dia. instead of 8 inches so I had to remachine them out to 8 inches to get the new shoes in. They are ok now.

Re: Car clock repair
Don't lubricare the gears just the pivot points. If you want to clean it remove the hands and dial, suspend the movement over a bowl of highly volatile cleaner , not in it, and leave it for a day then lubricate the pivot points with very thin clock oil and like the man says don't over wind it

Re: Morris Eight or Ford Model Y
Don't even think about a model Y. The mechanical brakes and transverse leaf spring will frighten the life out of you. I had a similar choice in 1970 and chose the Morris 8 series I. We still have ours and it is still up and running

Looks like the steel brake shoes are the wrong diameter to me . the linings look the same thickness all round. May be an optical illusion though. Worth checking.

Re: Trafficator wires
On the MM tourer the trafficator wires run from the rear loom on R.H. side of boot back inside the top of the wheel arches and inside the sill then up to each trafficator. Has any one noticed the boot lids on the earlier cars are much heavier than the Minot 1000s?

Re: Morris Minor 1956 Series II - Engine Problems
bmcecosse is right, do the simple tests then you will know where you stand and it will help when talking to the dealer. When I met my wife she had an Austin A30 and it used to stop now and again in the most awkward places. when we eventually found the problem, some one in the past had left the petro...
