Breach around thermostat pocket
I have a small breach around the pocket in the block where the thermostat sits. It is right where one of the studs screw in. this results in a slight weep up the stud and out under the nut/washer. Question is there anything I can use the effectively repair the block in this area?

Door binding
I have an issue with the passenger door where it binds with the wing. The clearances (using drivers side as reference) is very small but it just catches. I have 'shunted' the wing as far forward as it will go. Is there any fore/aft movement that I can do to move the door backwards. It has not droppe...
Re: Boot lid
I have done a 'non weld' repair on my boot lid which I posted a short while ago. If you want this and some further notes PM me.
I looked at a repair section but didn't want the hassle of a respray in that area at the moment - really dpends on the extent of the rot!

PM's
Sent (or I thought) a couple of messages but still seem to be 'stuck' in the Outbox. Clicked Preview. Happy with the message and then clicked Post but Outbox declares to Messages still?
Any clues?

Re: Tunnel cover
I had same issue and used cauking. ESM sell it. Its quite expensive for a box of 60 strips but you can get it from Europarts. Its a non setting type putty about 5mm in diameter which squashes out.

Re: Which boot seal?
I agree. My 61 had foam seal stuck to boot lid. As the foam seal wasn't a closed cell type water had got in and rusted the bottom. replaced with the type which fits to the body. There does seem to be a right and wrong way to fit so worth experimenting. Got mine from ESM.
Re: Arm rests
Again, thank you charlie_morris_minor. looking at how close the holes are I think I will stick with the screws in the millboard although I may make some reinforcing strips so it doesnt pull through. shame the fixing couldn't be invisible like the front but have to live with that one! got to now ensu...
Re: Arm rests
sorry, bad explanation by me! panel is millboard but the part you rest your arm on is ply. i have curved the card. nailed endgrain on side nearest centre of cabin and riveted to a metal strip on outside. it is now all per original (couldn't faff about making a card shelf) i'll get some photos up i t...
Re: Arm rests
Nice finish charlie_morris_minor. notice you kept the screws showing. i was going to try and punch out the card and use spring clips. i remade the cards and the 'shelf' is 20mm marine ply. i'll pm what i have done thus far. thanks
Arm rests
Continuing on with the new door cards, I come to the back. On a 2 door were there always arm rests fitted? I have recreated the millboard panels complete with the armrest and about to cover it in new vinyl. It is held in posion with a number of screws into the body which, compared to the front, look...

Sealing Door Panels
Having spent a good weekend cutting 3mm (3.6mm) exterior ply, punching holes for clips, window winder , handle, sealing it with PVA, applying foam sheet and covering in vinyl, I now ask the question if the door should have a plastic membrane to prevent water or damp coming into contact with the new ...

Re: New pump
I refurbished my pump using a refurb kit from Burlen (includes, diaphragm, valve discs, washers, springs and the points. What it did include was a contact suppressor (varistor/transorb). Before I refurbished the pump, the contacts would arc quite strongly. After refurbishment and the supressor fitte...

Carb issue
Hi. I recently treated the car to tune up as it has only recently been put back on the road. The garage said that they coukld not get the tickover right and left it running fast. If you actually turn the spindle the car will idle correcly. Spring is good and correct tension. Pivots lubricated. This,...

Re: rubber seal between gearbox cover and floor
I had a similar issue and tried some butyl seal designed for window units. It did seal but being a rubber it tried to twist in the screw treads when putting the panel back. In the end I bought a 3M product 08568 from Europart which was cheaper than ESM. It really is good but 60 strips will cost you ...

Authentic Stickers
I have come across a website that sells authentic labels. A bit of a quirky name of ISAYDINGDONG (www.isaydingdong.co.uk) that do a WIDE range of labels and stickers. Their service is 100% getting my order in about 36 hours! Quality is fantastic. So if you want to add that label to your coil, air fi...

Re: Moggie Grill (Not Grilled Moggie!)
Like Barrys says, they are "BA. I had a similar issue. I filed the studs in the hockey sticks flat, centre popped them and carefully drilled and tapped out new 2BA. One actually cleaned out!. I then screwed in new studs using Loctite Studlock (green or blue one) If the hole wanders slightly the...

Thanks bmcecosse. As you said, pumped round a treat and all now working (very effectively and better for not having combs, potato peelers etc in the ducts). Now how do I find the window winder and let some fresh air in
