Re: LHD door locks
Was going to fit lockable on both sides of my '58 four door,to go with the central locking , had the locks apart and made a right to a left but ended up not fitting it.
Will try to dig out the photos later.

Re: Electronic ignition worthwhile?
I'd swear by the old " add-on " Sparkrite systems , ( well I wouldn't swear by it , as it NEVER let me down ) , just clip onto the coil ( or fit elsewhere )...there was a three-way switch ( Off-Conventional-Electronic ) and a little lamp , which acts as a timing light. Excellent bit of kit...

" RE torquing. Yes, Absolutely did! To 45ft lbs (I believe) in the sequence as per the manual. I bought a torque wrench especially "
Does that mean you re-torqued the head bolts after the first heat-cycle?

Re: Fuel gauge problem
" with the speedo out and propped up in the aperture while I checked the blower, I saw a slight wisp of smoke " IMHO you've smoked the fuel gauge , the case should be properly earthed for it to function correctly , and I may be corrected here , and hope I am , but If you apply 12Volts and ...
