poor water circulation? if no water is in contact with the sensor it can give all sorts of strange readings, check water level and possibly the water pump as that might explain poor/no flow at idle speeds, otherwise regulator or even earthing to the block of the sensor

I thought the guides for swapping say that you don't need to reverse the heater motor, except on a few early models.

I assume thats because the motor has a field coil rather than a magnet and so will always run in the right direction, have you turned it on to check

Well it was nice and dry but too dark by the time I got home from work :-( I do not like this time of year, sigh Oil on the clutch plate is a worry as it has got worse quite quickly over the last few weeks, and in first gear too which it never did before. inspecting the clutch plate is no easy thing...

t-shirt might be a bit short notice, I have loads of the print and iron on transfer stuff if we could source some cheap t-shirts before Saturday? otherwise we can print and laminate it and use some magnetic strips to add them to the cars?
