Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
There are two distinct camps when it comes to classics, those that like their classic and take every opportunity to work on them, maybe even enjoying working on them rather than driving, and the other camp who love classic cars but cannot wild a spanner. I would say I think you've missed a group he...

Re: signs
I believe there are different speed limits for vans in the uk. On single-carriageway roads displaying the national speed limit sign, vans are limited to 50mph. The same rule applies on a dual carriageway, where the speed limit is 70mph for a car, but is 60mph for a van. On a motorway, a van is typic...

Sorry cannot help you, my wings are in storage so cannot measure them.
On a different note I have just had a look at Upper Main Arm NSW on Google maps, what a beautiful part of the world.
Certainly beats the north west England.

Re: Fitting new pistons
As above, check for crankshaft throw fore and aft movement, also check the bores, they may need to be re-bored to remove damage. Yes it does look like that piston has certainly been flopping about in the bore. What is the condition of the big end bearings and are any of the other pistons damaged? Lo...

What sad news, Guy Croft racing engines has been one of those institutions and he produced some excellent engines. RIP.

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
All great to see and reassuring to know the Minor will continue for a few years yet, keep up the great work, much appreciated. I still feel (and act sometimes) like I'm still a teenager, although I'm now fast approaching 55 the only thing slowing me down are a few aching bones and damaged joints as ...

Re: Fuel line connection at the tank
Thanks for you clear answer. I dare to have a go at releasing the nut now . . . Be careful you may twist the fuel pipe as you try to undo it. I would suggest a decent penetrating oil (not WD40) on the nut beforehand, maybe even a day or two. Then attempt to tighten the nut before attempting to undo...

Re: Recommend me a welder!!
I have a big bottle ,regulator and flow meter ,thank goodness as I am going through gas at an alarming rate. Would a modern MIG be any better in use, or will it always depend on the clown holding the torch? Reason I ask is that sometimes the weld goes on perfectly, other times it is a shambles. I a...

Re: Recommend me a welder!!
Please expand on this eurotorch business, how does it differ from the normal one ? Why does it differ ? and what makes it better or worse ? The eurotorch has a longer torch with a swivel head, so instead of having to twist the cable the head twists making access easier. There are conversions availa...

Re: Young enthusiast Bangers and Cash
Whilst I understand people who cherish their cars and enjoy sitting in the grounds of a nice country house displaying their hard work its not something that usually appeals to the younger generation. I have always been more into driving classic cars rather than looking at them, and as such tend to o...

Re: Recommend me a welder!!
Nip across to the mig welding forum, lots of great advice and recommendations. Tig is supposed to be good but difficult to master, I opted for mig which I think is more user friendly. My own welder is a Clarke 135 te turbo and to be honest it welds fine for bodywork, the only let down is the clown w...

Very nice. Unfortunately the salt over here has killed any chance of a "Rust Free" car.
It would be lovely to have that in my garage to tinker with.
Good luck with her.
