A clock would have been handy and one negative comment is that there is nowhere in a Minor to place a cup of tea when you stop for a rest other than passenger footwell  Paul Humphries. hm maybe bit of sink chain and some self tappers on the glove box to limit opening to the horizontal position.

The new owner might be a bit of an outcast, shunned by the MMOC, (probably) shunned by the Ford Capri OC forever to roam the streets unloved ..... unless it could get in as a pickup carrying some Capri spares

Was just going through old posts to see if I'd finally managed to get my image sig working and came across this old thread. Just to conclude it, I managed to get a cheap 300 diesel estate just run in at 200,000 miles and runs like new:)

Those coins will be worth more than their face value - particularly any silver coins minted before about 1948 which were alloys containing real silver.

Hi Vaseline and Cas and welcome, Me too, first car was a Minor at 17. After the insurance I couldn't afford even a new battery so regularly started it on the starting handle. Eccentric but practical. At the time I was having lessons in a Metro and driving the Minor with dad to get experience. As Ale...

Just a thought regarding the insurance of bangers - it may be more economically viable to insure 3rd party only as opposed to tpft. Reason being if your £300 car gets nicked and you claim: - Firstly you won't get £300 back, maybe £200; Secondly your no claims bonus would be lost so your next insuran...

The problem is that we Brits need a sport based on rain. Inventing a game where rain stops play is just asking for us to be bad at it as we'll never get to practice like those in sunny countries. Wind has been embraced for sailing, snow for skiiing, sun for beach volleyball so Rainsport is the logic...

When you say won't fit in the back, is it too high or would it intrude into the rear seat area? Do you need the rear seats?

If I've understood correctly, the engine would stay in front of the gearbox, not behind like a Beetle.

Hello Mr E, I'd love to know more about the choice of engine and running gear - do you have an old 924 lying around? Has the engine been worked on or is it the 924S engine? Given the transmission is in the rear axle, is it feasible to cut down the torque tube and move the engine back behind the fron...

If the minor is in North or East London, I could give you a hand on Saturday morning or Sunday.

I glue and staple (messy business) using bambi sized staples. Test first to make sure staples don't go right through though

I had a conversation with one of the insurers a few years ago and once they were satisfied that the brakes and suspension were adequate to cope with the power increase, related the premium to the bhp. I was asking about bigger cams, carburettors, and nitrous oxide - all theoretical, but they didn't ...

A word of caution with the self amalgamating tape. If two joins are next to each other and there is any pressure on them (ideally there shouldn't be anyway but under a carpet for example) the wires inside will eventually end up touching or shorting. The self-amalgamating stuff acts like a very thick...

Lucy, If you get stuck for someone to look over it, PM me. I live near Loughton. As has already been said, there will be a significant difference in cost if you are prepared to learn and do the maintenance yourselves compared to paying someone. In contrast to a modern car it will need regular care a...
