Re: Radio/CD player cuts out when brakes applied
I agree with previous reply's, radio should have its own fused dedicated power supply and earth. Older radios used to earth using the arial fitting but I would still provide a separate earth to avoid complications. I also think you have other issues and suspect bad earth elsewhere ... possibly batte...

Re: Video tutorials/suspension rebuild
There are a number of reasons why the suspension develops a squeak and now is a good time to learn about your car. I have seen a number of tutorials on Youtube but not sure I've seen any specific suspension rebuild video .... maybe worth having a look. Do you have a workshop manual ? Sat next to the...

Re: Best kit for Ford 5-speed conversion
With the Ford 5 speed fitted you will still be turning 4000rpm at 63mph because, like the 1098 box, the gear ratio in top gear is still 1:1. A better option is a differential change, 3.9:1 will lower the revs and 3.7:1 will lower the revs even more. the Ford box seems to of lost favour recently, peo...

Consider having your present drums turned if they have enough material on them ... I remember reading on here that some new drums are of 'tin hut far away' quality.

Re: Another one back on the road
Well done for getting back on the road, feels great doesn't it . vibration is wheels, propshaft or both, i just had my prop balanced and it cleared 90% of the vibration I was having at 45mph. l need to get the wheels done next. Your problem could also be a bit of both.

Re: Smoke from engine bay, start motor? HELP!
The fuel pump needs an earth because there is a rubber diaphragm in the pump which effectively isolates the business end of the pump where the electrical contacts are. You should also have a good earth strap from the body to the engine/gearbox.

Re: Front Suspension Upgrade Advice
Your 68 Traveller is 49 years old and most likely on its original dampers. You discovered that changing damper oil is a low cost and worthwhile upgrade. Personally, I would put some reconditioned dampers on with 30 or 40 weight oil in them and run it for the next 49 years

good acronym .. or maybe ..WWRD, What Would Roy Do ?
incidentally .. he left the forum at exactly 50500 posts on the old site, and the new site shows 11 posts less. I'm sure he would of worked hard to round up that figure .... annoyingly lost through the upgrade.

Re: horn problem
A small multimeter would come in handy, there not expensive, will show you where you have power .. or not. I used to print out a copy of the wiring diagram and take it out to the car, it soon becomes clear what each wire does. The previous owner may have done something, er, different. Mounting the h...

There is a wiring diagram .. 3rd post down in the electrical section, easy to read and should help you with your problem. your wire colours do not match the diagram so not sure whats happened there. You are correct in that the interior light works off the same fuse, could be dirty/corroded connectio...
