And if you're stuck at the bottom of a sand dune then you can take the plugs out and wind the car up in reverse - just like the ambulance in "Ice Cold in Alex". Do make sure there's someone on the brake though!

Some stores sell a pack of 5 leads to suit just about any A-series engine - same leads for Minor, Mini, A35, etc, etc, etc., just ask the assistant or check the package label. Alternatively, you can buy individual leads by length - measure the old ones and buy the same length new ones. Check that th...

It was my article that you're all talking about. I guess it proves what I wrote that not all owners know everything about their cars. This purpose designed tool fits perfectly, and doesn't chip the paint. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here's how one uses the tool:- http://homepages.rya-onl...

Sorry Amanda, but you'll have to take the old lining out first & fit ythe new one properly. No other wat. Simple really, but lots of hidden bits. Start by looking under dash board for two bits (one by left pillar, one on right) of thin wire bare wire held taught by small screws. Undo screws &...

[quote]approx 1" freeplay at the top of the pedal

Depends on engine size. The 948 & 1098 were slightly different, but any manual will give the correct settings. I think it's actually 3/4" or 1 1/4" but I'd have to check....

Just about everything has been covered, but for what it's worth, if you need packing pieces for the hinges go to JLH (see traders) they do laser cut pieces from 0.5mm - 3mm in 0.5 mm steps, and for both the pillar and door side of the hinges - brilliant. Most likely problem still sounds like worn hi...

There's a thread running on "Marina Brakes" at the moment that says everything; and some others on the Ford conversion. There's no right answer as to which is best, you pays your money and you takes your choice! Whichever kit, you use, they're worth it.

Your new master cylinder can still be used, you've just got to remove the rubber cap. The remote fluid reservoir kit screws into the end of the main cylinder body and replaces the original cap (the original has an air hole that would leak fluid out from the remote system) but uses the bulk of the or...

Easy to fit, if you have the right bits. Do you want to keep standard Minor wheels? If so, you need Marina hubs modified to Minor stud spacing - available from many Minor Spares dealers. If not, then you need to fit Marina wheels to the back end, and that's another subject all together. Back to the ...

Like most work on the car, Traveller window removal is simple if all is pristine, or harder work if the car hasn't been touched for many years. Simplest & easiest of all is if it's a write off with rotton wood!! Front doors - see comments from Gareth. Rear doors - there are fillets of wood on th...

STOP! These screens are great, I've fitted them to five travellers over the years, no porblems at all. There are two type of kit normally available: Stick on or replacement glass. One of the old stick on ones was wired in parallel, the other in series. All the current replacement glass kits MUST be ...

Does the lamp work with the switch fitted to the lamp? If not, suspect the bulb or the supply from the battery - it is fused, see wiring diagram in Hayes books. If lamp works OK on "manual" then switches in pillars most likely to be at fault. Original ones unscrew using large cross-head dr...
