Re: Everything that worried us re new Mot
This has always been the case. There has always been an onus on the motorist to maintain their vehicle in a roadworthy condition, regardless of MOT. Ask yourself this:- If your car has a valid MOT, would you happily drive it with no lights or bald tyres and expect the Police to let you get away with...

Rubery Owen, same as all the factory Minor wheels. I've also got some 4inch width x 14 for the MM and even a set of 4x15s from the Wolseley 4/44. They all have 4.5 inch PCD so will only fit the early cars. Lots of Kia, Hyundai and Nissan wheels also fit, along with MG wheels. Reliant Scimitar wheel...

Well I'm gonna buy a big diesel generator for the purpose of charging an electric car.

Re: 1600 xflow again... Fitting issues?!
Does your engine have a front bowl sump or a rear bowl sump? It is possible to get an X-flow in there without major mods. There was a how-to in PPC mag a couple of years ago. The main clearance problem is the oil filter clashing with the chassis leg, so a remote filter should solve that. I reckon wi...

Re: Winter fuel allowance
The Government actually looked at means-testing the winter fuel allowance about 2-3 years ago and worked out that the cost of means-testing it would be more than any savings produced.

Re: Copper exhaust pipe
I once heard it is illegal to use copper in the exhaust system - something to do with it creating poisonous fumes. This may well be some old wive's tale though... You're right about that. Just be thankful that the minor only had to pass a 'visible smoke' test, 'cos I reckon that hooking it up to th...

Re: Ramipril cough
Funnily enough, I've had this dry cough for months, and having checked what tablets I'm on, it turns out that they're Ramipril! I gave up smoking in August and since then I've discovered I've got Type2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, & an underactive thyroid. In addition to this I've had constant...

Re: Are all 2 door car doors from any year interchangeable ?
Series 11 cars had thinner hinges, so the recesses are shallower. If fitting later doors, you'll need the original hinges and my need a shim behind them on the door shell.

Re: GEARBOX Urgent reply please
Try changing the oil first. Type 9 boxes can be sensitive to the type of oil used. Try changing to a synthetic oil to see if it cures the problem.
Try Burton Power for advice as to what type you need.

It's worth a try, and cheaper than a rebuild!

Sierra Type 9 5 speed box is grating in 2nd gear. It doesn't jump out of 2nd, so I suspect it is synchro. Would I be right in thinking that it is the synchro that has gone? What would be the rough cost of repair, and any recommendations where I could get it done? I would dearly appreciate quick res...

From experience, ABS is a great help in the wet, once you get used to the brake pedal 'kicking back' at you. In snow, ABS and traction control are about as good as drum brakes and crossplies.

Re: This Europe referendum malarkey
As I said earlier, as regards motoring legislation, this originates from the UN. The EU are just doing as they are told. http://www.unece.org/leginstr/trans.html However you vote regarding the EU won't make one iota of difference on this. Just thought I'd chuck a fact into the mix, cos we ain't gett...
