Stiff Clutch....or is it normal?
I perceive that the clutch on my '68 traveller is rather stiff and requires good leg muscles to operate it. That is, when compared to my everyday modern Opel. To determine if its normal, I could try someone elses Minor but living in the wilderness of Hessens' Siberia (so-called because it is over 60...

This information does not help you but also my late father also worked for Turiff from ca 1964 to 1969. He was some kind of manager in the pipeline division.

Re: Windscreen Wiper Problem
You may have an incorrect blade on the arm. Any chance of a picture?? That would not surprise me as so many things on the car have been bodged through by previous owners. - wrong sender unit on the petrol tank, wrong fuel gauge,; even the clutch mechanism was not for a 1098. The list gets ever bigg...

Re: Windscreen Wiper Problem
Can I add to this "completed" topic? The Wipers on my Traveller work fine. They park correctly and for the most part push the raindrops away as they are supposed to do. However, similar to early comments the RHS wiper underside catches on the windscreen rubber at its right most extent and ...

Re: Introducing Kevin - the 1956 two door from New Zealand
Forgive me, I cannot percieve anyone wanting to leave NZL to go and live in London and I imagine you in the traffic barely able to get out of first gear to get to work..............but these are my prejudices. but Kevin looks superb. The leaks you mention - are these oil leaks or due to rainwater? T...

It may also be useful - in ruling something out - to run the engine after dark and look under the bonnet for any wayward sparks or flashes indicating loose connections and/or short circuiting.

Re: It is never the coil !!!
This afternoon as the rain finally stopped I went for a test drive to my model Aeroplane club by a roundabout route , say 40km away. Car is performing well with no sign of hiccups. If it is indeed the pinking noise that I hear on hill climbs then the vernier will be retarded a bit more. I have found...

Re: It is never the coil !!!
Yes of course; it is intended to be a back up but when it arrives, to prove that it is ok will have to fit it - and then if it works there would be little point in removing it again
That being the case, the Tai'coil will act as a spare ( and hopefully never needed)

Re: It is never the coil !!!
There has been in the last few years a gradual demise in manufacturing here; even though record exports are being reported. My firm, who make water turbines etc nowadays only do about 25 % locally - the rest is world wide and the quality is often an issue with our customers. Just a sidetrack that - ...

Re: It is never the coil !!!
I thought you might wince at that info...... :-? I was thinking on the same lines to get a reputable brand but, as you poin tout, it is very likely no longar "made in Germany". In any case which model? Dynamo - having seen previous comments in the forum I already have it in mind to do just...

Re: It is never the coil !!!
I would say that the coil that was on mine was not original. Anyway, using the same HT cables as before and with the new Taiwanese coil Morris is singing sweetly again. I have examined the old coil at its ceramic nose, so to speak to determine whether there is minute crack to be seen but I cannot pe...

Re: Fuel guage being funky
My treveller, when I got it, had a similar problem which took a while to solve. One of the previous owners had obviously been scouring the junk yrads for anything which would fit and installed a sender unit for the earlier models which not only had positiv earth but also to compensate for this , pre...

Re: It is never the coil !!!
No, it was indeed the coil on its last legs. Just before fitting and connecting up the new one, I did connect up the now renovated lead to the old coil and tried to start . no go. Then with the new coil fitted - the starter motor, it seems did not need to turn over , the motor started on its own acc...

It is never the coil !!!
I have been greatly helped by this forum and members engine problems, in trying to recocile my own. Some background. Last Autumn my '68 Traveller started to misbehave ; lacking power and gernerally being sluggish although it always started well. I live in the hills of middle Germany at approx the sa...
