Bonnet fit

I've a long way to go before this becomes my most serious problem, but my Traveller has this huge gap at the rear of the bonnet, nearside. I've tried adjusting the hinges, but the bonnet is quite close to the scuttle and if I pull it in any more it fouls the wiper arm. Any ideas? I haven't done any ...

A pillar flexing

Today I got round to finishing my front off-side restoration on my 71 Traveller. Earlier I had replaced the step sill, boxing plate, floor extension and outer sill, also the rear half of the flitch and the door pillar. Plus some repairs to the kidney panel and wheel arch. What had put me off finishi...

Re: Even older cars can be greener..........

"The Great Global Warming Scandal" was pretty convincingly debunked as low grade journalism at the time. Try a slightly more authoritative representation of the view of the majority of the scientific community, hot off the press yesterday. "Today, Friday 27 September, the United Natio...

Re: Traveller's rest

Answer to the last question - yes, there is another vertical face, the boxing plate extension, available as a repair panel

Clearly seen in Taupe's photo.

Re: Traveller's rest

Really wish Taupe would update his Traveller thread - it's quite embarrassing to have had my much inferior contribution as the last entry on there for so long

Re: pick these up today

I lived in Herne Hill in 1969 and got my first Moggy in 1970 - but unfortunately no, I don't remember George Osborne as a dealership. The name sounds sort of familiar, though......

Re: Spotted today.

Anyone here with a C reg saloon with minilites or similar, doing about 65mph on the A1 just north of Newark around 11:00 last night (19th July)? If so can I apologise for flashing him back into lane when in fact he had spotted before me that there were roadworks ahead closing off the inside lane. My...

Re: New woodwork/ Danish oil or Sikkens?

. when the wood is off the car and new ......is it possible to tanalise the wood? I know almost nothing about wood  I haven't changed my wood yet, probably next year, so not speaking from experience, but I do know a bit about wood in the building industry. Tanalising isn't the way to go, it's ...

Re: Rose Taupe Traveller Restoration- update 38

Taupe, fantastic devotion to near original detail and superb craftsmanship. By way of contrast I approached this with a morbid fear of the dreaded rust sandwich, you'll see why from my first picture. I used a hefty piece of steel sheet (2.0mm, I think) folded to an angle for me by my local friendly ...

Re: traveller covers

Thanks for clarification. I was thinking of "upgrading" to Stormforce eventually - main purpose of present cover is to tidy up the drive and hopefully to slow the rusting down to a speed I can weld faster than :)

Re: traveller covers

I've just bought a Dartmoor cover from PJ Covers of Teignmouth. Fits reasonably ok and seems better made than either of the two previous attempts (Machine Mart & Bull Motif) although to be fair both refunded without quibbling. While I was researching for mine I came across bmc's comments about t...

Re: Sill step replacement

Thanks, that's really useful. I had been thinking I would cut the end off the new sill, butt weld all the way round and then make a new flange welded over the join and against the seat box. I think I'll follow your advice, but, as I've only left myself 1/2" of original sill to weld to , still m...

Sill step replacement

I'm one of those lovely people who lurk on here and benefit from all your experience without ever posting anything back, but I promise my project (aka Traveller "in need of minor tidying") will feature on here one of these days. I'm in the process of fairly major surgery to one side and ha...

Mine was for my 60th last year. We were camping and it was adversely affected by the damp - authentic or what? :) [frame]Image[/frame]
