Re: Ageing gracefully?
Yes, but why not do your utmost to preserve it in that nice sound condition, with a lick of decent paint, and some rust protection to protect it from the elements?
Or at least, spray or brush on some old engine oil to deter further rusting.

Looks sound enough, but badly in need of a de-surface rusting session followed up by chassis black then some Waxoyl or similar to preserve it.

Re: MORRIS MINORS GALORE!
Hi Dan, Sounds like an interesting collection you have. My Minor models just comprise a gold-plated Corgi 1:42 scale saloon, a Spot-On 1:42 saloon made in Northern Ireland, a Vanguards 1:42 Traveller, and miniature 1:76 (model railway scale) die-cast Travellers made by Springside models and SA Skale...

Even more interestingly (?), the number plate "55 CCR" is currently on a MERCEDES-BENZ C 63 AMG, according to Askmid.

You can apply for a Heritage certificate:

Or supply the chassis number, as there are people on here who will know the build date from that.

Re: Oil additives
I would suggest that the proper cure would be a new manifold, or have the existing one repaired, before you go wasting your money on snake oil remedies that may cause more harm than they cure.

Re: fibre glass repair
I would imagine that to be the case. I guess you'd need a Dremel or similar and a hole saw to do that, and it would be tricky to get clean lines...

Probably not, at least compared to the thin tinplate Taiwanese effort I bought to replace the dented one on my car!

I suspect it's a fibreglass front panel, similar to those sold by JLH:

Alternatively, drain the engine oil into a suitable clean pan then pour the bulk of it into a spare can, and look for metal fragments/brass coloured bits in the residue. That would indicate bearing break-up.

Check the earth on the radio and aerial first, before fitting any suppressors.

Hehe, I'm guessing to prevent corrosion on the battery terminals?
What does the hose leading from the inlet manifold up past the battery tray and into the bulkhead go to?

Don't drive it far with damaged threads; the trunnions have been known to suddenly pull out of the kingpin, resulting in suspension collapse and the car ending up in a ditch or worse!
