Re: Twin Carb Advantage?
Its like the Irish man giving directions, it all depends where you're starting from :) If starting from a standard engine with stanbdard 1 1/4" carb then a pair of twins will give more flow and potentially more power. Obviously a single 1 1/2" is easier to set up and no balancing is needed...

Re: Rear axle and bearing and oil seal gap.
Phil,
Interesting your measurements convert exactly to imperial fractional units. I would be very surprised if a metric part could be used as a direct replacement for what would originally have been an imperial part. I might enquire with some bearing experts at work...

Re: Rear axle and bearing and oil seal gap.
Is the mating face on the axle that the seal runs against nice and smooth with no rust, marks, etc? Did you trial fit the seal on the axle mating face? I guess you are sure its leaking from the oil seal and not the paper gasket?

£35 each sounds a bargain. For that price I'd ballast the car down with a set of spares in the boot in case it snows

Anything made by Honda is a winner.
Scotland is much more forward thinking than England when it comes to renewable energy. Our village recently had plans for a solar farm turned down because the locals didn't like it and thought it would scare the horses (amongst a million other weak excuses!)

Re: Grunting Poly Bushes
Hi Phil,
I have only ever used 'self drying' lubricants with bushes (washing up liquid, Hellerman oil etc). I'd imagine they presume that grease, over time, will attract dirt and grit.

Re: More cylinder head issues.
I have access to either a kerosene wash tank or a another heated Jizzer wash tank with a high pressure gun. Kerosene gets the bulk of the dirt off and the Jizzer does the rest, leaving it clean enough to eat off! Ideally you need a friendly machine shop to do a proper job. It's very difficult to get...

I can't think of many modern cars that use push rods and rockers so the problem probably wouldn't happen on a modern car

Re: Pretentious Experts
I've seen some shocking work by garages for MOT work. Not cutting rust out before welding is just bad practice and bad workmanship. I'd like my Minor to last well after im a pile of dust so I like to do work that will last.
If a garage doesnt have pride in their work, dont use them!

Re: Draining radiator
If your drain tap is like this than anti-clockwise will open it. DOn't force it though as its fitting is only soldered into the radiator. It may also be sludged up. Patience is the best way, for the tap and the hose....[frame][/frame]
