The inside lip of the hubcap deforms after a while so you get a 'sweet spot' for popping the caps back on.

Those ball bearings (Mini driveshafts?) could be 'ground in' by use of a medium sized BFH, I guess. Just a suggestion. Best to check with Phil or some other Mini guru on one of the other forums.

Bottom left of page 5. Pin used to drive the rim round on the forming machine. Looks like the pin holes are opposite the hole drilled for the valve which I assume is near the weld line?

Those rims must have started life as a sheet of plain steel. Perhaps the holes were to give it a start on the big roller that formed the shape and rolled it into a circle?

I had to skim a sprocket last week. Would have been circa 20 thou, now down to 5 thou.

Most alloy covers are painfully thin. I drilled one out to 1/2 BSP and put a very thin nut on either side. That Lumiweld stuff might be a better option.

Another alternative. Anyone got a good 1275 they'd like to swop for a £1200 alloy 12G940, brand new in the box?

Yes, It's all here. I sat a pile of heads together in the garage. 0.280 is the max gap for the 12g940s so I think the smartest move is to get the 12g295 skimmed either for the Shorrocks or to skim it a lot more and to get a far more entertaining camshaft. A quick re-calc brings up 9.1:1 ratio with a 12G940. If I sink the valves upwards then I might be able to do away with the Shorrocks (and sell it). What about using double gaskets? Disaster waiting to happen?

Cut the front breather off but then found I can't use the tapet cover breather since it is in the way of the water hose. Are there any breather suggestions for the fuel pump hole??
